Higgins Discharged On Driving Charge In Bath Court
Ralph Higgins Jr of East Brunswick was found not guilty of reckless driving by Judge Gardiner Deering after a Bath municipal court hearing. Witnesses testified Higgins swung across Center Street in City Hall Square at high speed, while Higgins denied speeding and claimed a parked car forced the wider turn. Court records show prior charges in 1938 and 1940 with mixed outcomes. In a separate case, Robert McIntyre was found guilty of cruelty to animals for leaving a horse and cart in Center Street, ordered to pay fines and costs, with probation for six months.

Lebel Injured When Car Leaves Road Near Whiskeag
Edwin J. Lebel 27 of 38 Russell Street was injured when his machine left the road just west of Whiskeag fill about 12:30 a.m. The car struck mail boxes, hit a tree stump and overturned. Lebel, bruised and with a cut over the right eye, was taken to Memorial hospital for observation and would face a municipal court charge for operating under the influence once released.

Alfred Wray's Funeral Held at Greenlawn Cemetery
The body of Alfred McKay of Woolwich, who disappeared Thursday last week and was found in the Kennebec River Wednesday, was taken to Greenlawn cemetery Wiscasset for a committal service by Rev. Chester B. Oliver of Wesley church Bath. McKay, born Clyde River Nova Scotia November 4 1876, entered Maine from Sherbrooke July 12 1919 and filed for naturalization listing wood chopping as his occupation. Bearers were Arambee lodge Odd Fellows members: Charles E. Cowley John S. Dickinson Everett W. Jackson Joseph H. Smith.

Mrs. Philip Theberge of Brunswick injured in a Thursday morning collision with a car driven by Alton King of East Brunswick. Theberge suffered cuts and bruises from being thrown from the vehicle. her husband and King escaped with minor injuries as both cars were badly damaged. State Patrolman John P. A lifelong farmer and former river fisherman, he lives with daughter Mrs Melvin Howe on the Winship Lilly farm. His son Lemuel operates the parental farm, a brother John Preble lives at Day's Ferry, and daughters Winnie and Mary also reside nearby. He remains in good health, keeps up daily chores, and reads the daily paper for war and politics news, with neighbors gifting a birthday cake.

Dr. Harry F. Morin performed an autopsy on Alfred M. McKay 64 of Woolwich and ruled drowning as the cause. A neck bruise and arm injuries prompted the county attorney to order the examination. Officials noted uncertainty whether death was self inflicted or accidental, though indications favored suicide. McKay, a Canadian citizen, had feared deportation while seeking naturalization with attorney John J. Keegan. He is survived by a wife whose whereabouts are unknown. Also in Augusta, a Friday home craft exhibit sponsored by the Augusta China Club showcased hand painted china, ship models, pottery, illustrated books, book plates, rug making, and metal craft at Surgis House.
