West Bath Proud Of Its Volunteer Fire Department
West Bath residents sleep more soundly thanks to a capable fire department. Charles Dauphin, first assistant chief, serves as a full time on call link with the alarm gong and the town telephone network. The 14 volunteers have built a ready crew, repaired trucks, and funded gear through shows and fairs with help from women volunteers and town leadership, now improving safety and security.

The Board adopted the 1954 1955 school calendar totaling 182 school days. Classes begin September 8 with a teachers meeting September 7 and registrations that afternoon. The calendar lists election, holidays, and term dates including Columbus Day Good Friday and Memorial Day closures. An Aug 31 public inspection of school buildings is planned and a get together for new teachers is scheduled September 9.

Torrent Second At Muster Held In Rhode Island
The handtub Torrent No 1 of Bath placed second in Class B at a large muster in East Greenwich Rhode Island. First went to Androscoggin of Topsham with a stream of 184 ft 9.5 in. Volunteer of East Greenwich won Class A with 235 ft 2.5 in. Several other machines from Massachusetts and New Hampshire competed. weather was excellent and crowds attended. The Torrent left Bath early Friday morning.

Two Reserve Naval units from NAS Columbus Ohio completed two week summer cruises at Brunswick Maine last week. Patrol Squadron 691 and FASron 695 combined 30 officers 100 enlisted operate 14 aircraft.
