Bath Canning Center Demonstrates Strong Local Effort
Canning center reports 1338 cans processed in a week with daily limits for call ahead access. Volunteers and workers, including Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Wing, processed green beans greens beets blueberries and peas. Separately Bath schools expand facilities with Washington Street primary and Lambert Park related classrooms to accommodate new families and the Dike school adds space to handle fourth grade needs.

Child Narrowly Escapes Drowning In Eastern River
Mrs Sumner Berry and family visiting Dresden Mills saw Evelyn Betty and Shirley swept by a swift current while swimming in the Eastern river. Evelyn went out too far and could not help herself. Alvin Marjorie Berry and Savani swam to assist and pulled her to shore where she recovered after days of nervous shock.

Dromore Burying Ground Annual Meeting Sunday
The Dromore Burying Ground Association held its annual meeting Sunday at 3 30 pm with six members present. Officers were re elected including Miss Bessie E Dickinson as president and Walter C Rogers as treasurer. The group honored Miss Mary P Hill the late clerk and discussed a perpetual care fund for the historic yard. Miss Hill died February 4 1943 in Topsham.

Youngster Injured When Struck by Bus in Bath
A six year old boy, Alfred Goodwin, son of Robert Goodwin, was struck by a north bound bus on Washington Street Monday afternoon. He suffered a fractured collar bone and facial laceration and was taken to Bath Memorial Hospital. The bus was driven by Russell Howard. The incident occurred as he attempted to cross near 267 Washington Street.
