An area at the mouth of the Sheepscot River in Sheepscot Bay is designated as an air to ground gunnery range for Naval Air Station Brunswick. Navigating the danger zone is prohibited at all times. Boundaries extend from Little River mouth to Tom Rock and surrounding buoy, then Griffith Head, with shoreline limits along Georgetown Island.

A CPA release requires restaurants to post ceiling prices for 40 selected items including standard meals and individual items such as sandwiches soups salads coffee and milk. If a restaurant sells fewer than 40 items it must post prices for the items it does sell. The Aug 16 date notes the coffee ceiling is the highest price charged between Oct 4 and 10 1942 with Bath restaurants already charging 10 cents for coffee before these dates.

World War II pilot joins Bell Aircraft as test flyer
Donald M. Marshall of Bath Maine signs with Bell Aircraft Buffalo as production test pilot for P 39 and P 63 fighters. He lost a left leg in combat after bailing out over Europe and spent nine months as a prisoner. Now married three months to Sheila Reed, he residence Niagara Falls New York area. Truck Breaks Through Front Street Paving
A heavy truck from Jacobson Fruit Co. sank through a front street pavement in Portland on Thursday around 2 30 pm. The roadbed collapsed due to underground water flow while the truck unloaded produce. Highway workers lifted the vehicle back onto solid ground after a deep wheel sinkage and nearby racks were damaged.

Fortieth Wedding Anniversary Party at Damariscotta Lake
The 40th anniversary of Mr and Mrs Alton Ames of Wiscasset was celebrated with a surprise party at their daughter Katherine Ames’s cottage on Damariscotta Lake. Bath Board Names Keith Crockett Principal Over All Three Schools
Keith L. Crockett of Rockport was hired by the Bath Board of Education to supervise Huse Memorial Central and North Grammar schools for the coming year. The board aims to fill vacancies with female classroom teachers and a non teaching principal to oversee all three schools and after school activities. Crockett, a 1930 Rockport HS graduate with a 1941 Gorham College BS in Education, has five years of teaching and principal experience including a recent post at Bellows Falls High School in Vermont. He is married with one son.

Navy officer Drews transfers to Washington for inspection tours
