Wiscasset Eventful Week Highlights Open House and Services
Wiscasset hosted a successful August exhibit at the old county jail on Federal Street with 200 attendees. The Lincoln County Cultural and Historical Association ran the event led by Miss Mildred Burrage and a local hostess corps. The week featured church centennial services at St. Philip's with planed open house day, a Shriners meeting, and a parish tea honoring Mrs. Elizabeth Dyer. A chicken barbecue at the yacht club drew crowds, and tax bills were issued showing the year’s largest commitment of 223 023 dollars and a rate of 45 per thousand. Local notable notes include Mrs. Carolyn Varney’s year of fund-raising and various community visits and sports events surrounding Wiscasset.
