Electrical Storm Deluges Bath Area Causing Power Losses
A severe thunderstorm struck Bath Saturday causing extensive power outages and telephone failures in Bath Brunswick and surrounding towns. About 1450 telephones were knocked out in the Bath Brunswick district as 15 major cables were severed plus a large oak fell in Harpswell knocking out 40 lines. CMP crews labored overnight and into Sunday to restore service with winds blamed for most damage along the coast. No accidents or downed trees were reported locally.
