Fred Blake leapt from his dinner table and plunged into the Whiskeay creek after 14 year old Florine Gagne disappeared under water. He found and brought her to shore, aided by his wife and neighbor William Thurston. Medical help arrived soon. Florine revived and recovered at the Blake home.

City Employee Killed By Cave-In At North Bath Pit
Patrick J. Murray a 55 year old Bath city employee and former Bath Iron Works driller was killed Friday afternoon when 60 feet of rock wall and a 14 inch pine tree toppled onto the city truck he stood beside at a sand pit on the David Henderson farm in North Bath. Four workers were present as the wall and tree fell, crushing Murray between the truck and the debris. Palmer and others escaped injury though the tree branches felled Palmer as he leaped from the cab. Murray, a Galway Ireland native and Bath resident, left a wife two sons and a daughter. The accident halted work as crews cleared the slide and removed an additional 100 feet of the overhanging wall.

A large Good Will gathering at the west end of the Girls Farm marked the dedication of four hundred acres donated by William B. Kendall of Bowdoinbaum. Gus Sedenberg a 43 year old steel worker from Pottstown Pa fell about 40 feet from the Kennebec bridge draw span in Bath while his riveting gang moved positions. He was married with four children and the body was sent to Pottstown after arrangements at Curtis funeral home. Work on the bridge paused out of respect.
