Lightning scorched a dead spruce near Sagadahoc bay Georgetown and spread a 30 foot trail of fire. Youths Harold Brown and Earl Hagan plus five wardens used chemicals to save the woods. Camp Sagadahoc campers Kendall Niven and Albert Merrill aided, with residents Florence Holt Estelle Sumner driving wardens to the scene.
A July country club evening drew about 80 guests for a lobster supper at seven followed by cards and moving pictures by Edward C. Siiness. Florida views and friends’ reels entertained the crowd. Prizes included ladies first and second at cards, men’s top score, and cigarets. committee members led by Harry L. Day organized the event.
Ambrose Thibodeau and Mrs. Carrie Renzetti of Georgetown wed in the Wesley M. E. church parsonage on Union Street with Rev. Forest L. Littlefield officiating. The couple plans to reside in Georgetown. Miss Julia Mulway of Rockland is visiting Bath guest of Miss Marjorie Smith.
Hollis Webster found a note inside a bottle on Sea Beach Georgetown. The note says it was set afloat Sunday July 16 1933 by Shirley Higgins of Westport Maine and asks Mr Webster to write back with the promise that he will acquiesce.
Rev. and Mrs. Claude E. Morris of New York City are spending several weeks at a Smith cottage at West Point. Morris is pastor of the Emanuel Baptist Church in New York. This marks their third summer visiting West Point.
The 65 foot schooner Alice owned by H M Smith of Marblehead Ma grounded in Wyman's Cove Small Point Saturday night around 10 15 pm half tide forced an alert to Popham Beach Coast Guard. Two anchors kept her from listing until the Coast Guard freed her at 1 am Sunday with no injuries or damage. Eight aboard including three women received aid from Mr and Mrs Harry Bowie at their cottage until she floated.
Services at the Chapel of Our Saviour drew large crowds with a five piece orchestra. Fred Dwyer delivered the evening message Lay Up for Yourselves Treasures in Heaven. The program featured solos duets trios and quartets with Mrs. Harry Berry as organist and several performers including the Crooker sisters and the Armstrong trio.
The Pine Tree State Shows are at McKay Park in Bath all week. Maine’s own carnival features four rides two side shows and many games. Rides include Ferris wheel merry-go-round chair plane and tilt-a-whirl. A Salisbury Beach direct sideshow offers freaks and curiosities. An athletic show with boxing and wrestling runs each evening along with a reptile show. This marks the first Bath engagement in three seasons.
Myers Reed and Chester Roberts from the Kennebec bridge draw span control room observed several sizable fish jumping near the bridge Thursday around eight o clock. They believed the fish were salmon, noting that such salmon were not common in recent years.

The Thistles, competing against noted breeders from New England, expressed great satisfaction at the results.
State Tax Assessor Hon. Frank H. Holley warns merchants violating Chapter 260 of the Public Laws of 1933 face fines from 25 to 100 dollars per day per store. He notes the department has been flooded with notices and that revenue amounts cannot yet be estimated due to multiple stores.
A new three wheeled automobile with two forward wheels and a rear center rudder wheel passed through Bath last week. It features a Ford V-8 engine, speeds up to 120 mph, cruising at 100 mph, aluminum body with red leather upholstery, 12 feet long, and can park with a foot to spare by pivoting on the rear wheel.
