Bath's State Tax Grows By 7469 In 1917
City Clerk Grassy, during a trip to Augusta, notes Bath's 1917 state tax at 40,633.90, up from 33,164.72 in 1916, an $7,469.28 rise. The 11-6 mill tax rate results from higher state and county charges, with Bath's 1917 assessed valuation at 6,767,854, up 140,101, while the 1917 county tax is 14,141.33, up from 13,845.91. The tax hike funds state highway work via a mill tax, dampening hopes for rate reduction.
