Seven Bath area youths joined the State Y M C A Youth and Government program in Augusta. Boys Walter Fullerton Clyde Wyman Richard Gross and girls Leona Tibbetts Dorothy Wing Gloria Wilson Janet Stilphen represented Hi Y clubs in House and Senate sessions. A Cahadagas club banquet and dance followed a weekend legislature trip led by advisor Mrs. William Owen.

Workers for W H Hinman Construction found a floating unknown woman near the Woolwich Arrowsic bridge approach. The brunette in underwear and a dark dress appeared aged 20 to 50. Troopers retrieved the body after a three day float. the cause of death is drowning.

Ancient well found during Arch street repair
A Highway Department crew, digging on Arch street to locate water seepage into a building, uncovered an ancient well. The stone walled structure measured about 10 feet in diameter and held water to a depth of roughly 10 feet. Arch street is believed to have been laid out in 1838. Continued on page three.

Two youths held on forged checks charge by court
Earl Page Jr. 18 of Wiscasset and Clyde Page 20 of Wiscasset faced a judge in municipal court on forged check charges tied to two Bath merchants. A juvenile arraigned on similar charges was placed on probation. Clyde and Earl were ordered to post $300 recognizance for the June grand jury. Police report the pair were nabbed near Wiscasset by Bath officials. One check for 36.50 to A. Pecci and another for 48 to C. W. Rogers Inc. were involved.

Regatta Card Adopted by New Meadows Sailors
The newly incorporated New Meadows Regatta Association set the course with a constitution and by laws and a talk by Roger McAleer co designer of the racing sloop Dirigo. Mrs Russell Snow Hitch cock wife of Bath Iron Works shipbuilding supervisor was chosen president of the Bath Garden Club at its annual meeting held Tuesday at Mrs Sumner Sewall's home.
