Bath Loan and Building Association Applies for Receivership
At a Tuesday afternoon conference Bank Commissioner John G. Smith and most directors agreed the association’s condition warrants liquidation. The court was asked to liquidate, with notices returnable May 10, and a restraining order in effect. Directors expect a board member to oversee liquidation to minimize costs. Factors include prior defalcation, city decline, withdrawals, no new loans, and foreclosures at losses. The association aims to pay 90 percent to shareholders if conditions improve, with assets disposed of gradually. Officers and directors listed. December 16 1925 statement shows 282 shareholders and 241 borrowers.
