Maine Sophomore President Seized By Freshmen in Bangor
Stanwsod Searles president of the University of Maine sophomore class was abducted by about 20 freshmen late Wednesday. He was found Thursday morning chained to a bed at a North Street Bath residence after a chase that spanned Bangor Bucksport and Orono with two other captured sophomores.

President Morris McDonald announced a new pick up and store door delivery plan for Maine Central Railroad in twelve Maine cities including Portland Lewiston and Bangor. The service handles less than carload freight at no extra charge and is operated in coordination with Railway Express Agency to restore rail traffic and support local jobs.

Dr William R Chapman longtime Maine Music festival director was honored with a wreath at the Rubenstein club closing concert in the Waldorf Astoria New York City. Performers Miss Winifred Cecil Walter Mills and Mrs Lucille Potter Lavin sang with chorus and orchestra. The program featured the new song Flying Through the Air by Dr Chapman with words by Mrs Chapman. Seized Cabin Cruiser Marguerite Towed Into Bath Port
The 50 foot Marguerite of Boston carrying 418 cases of liquor was seized Tuesday at Thomas ton and towed into Bath on February 6 after failing to stop for Coast Guard vessels. Customs officers from Bath released the vessel and three aboard, including captain John Haskell of Harpswell and Forrest Hanna of Georgetown. Ownership was listed as Richard Allen of Boston.

Missing Car Recovered After School Theft
A Buick belonging to William H. Jenkins was stolen from in front of Morse High School where James G. Jenkins parked it for the senior dance. Bath boy and four companions admitted taking the sedan and abandoning it five miles below Bruns wick on Garnet road. the car was recovered undamaged later Tuesday.

West Bath School Board elects Small chair and schedules hours
Mrs Loring D Small was elected chairman of the West Bath Board of Education at a reorganizational meeting in Bath. Clinton D Wilson was re elected secretary and William Bailey named truant officer.
