Thrilling voyage in small sloop on Sunday’s gale
Capt George C Stacey and his 17 year old daughter Mae left Bath in a 24 foot sloop with no auxiliary power. They battled sleep deprivation for 40 hours and fought six hours to keep the leaking craft afloat. They reached Merrimac Coast Guard station before continuing to Marblehead, covering about 90 miles by water. The trip ended with safety and thanks to Merrimac crews.
