Chimney Fire Halts Blaze at Dunton Home
Firefighters from Engine 4 responded to Mrs Harold Dunton on Old Brunswick road Monday morning to tackle a chimney fire burning four to five feet up the stack. An airtight stove on the second floor caused the blaze. The department used a booster line and contained the fire with no damage reported.

Pupils Hold Food Sale For Basketball Uniforms
Central Grammar School pupils in grades six and seven ran a food sale at McFadden's drug store on Saturday to raise funds for basketball uniforms. An early Sunday morning fire four miles out on Route 1 in Woolwich destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Archie York while they stayed with Mrs. Yorks family in Bath. Damage is unofficially $2500 with no insurance. Firemen responded at 3:35 am and exhausted 1200 gallons of water before deeming the blaze under control. No occupants were home and no personal belongings were saved.
