Everett Green in Combination 2 responded to a still alarm chimney fire at Allen Clark's residence. A hole in the chimney and burning woodwork forced Green to empty two ponies and a large chemical tank to subdue the flames. A farmer nearby joked about scarecrows wearing golf togs.
The Wesley church Ladies Aid met at Mrs Abbie Gages White street home on Friday afternoon with 16 members despite rain. Committees were named for Aprons Quilts Rugs Entertainments and Suppers. Mrs Carrie Sampson received an ever sharp pencil andHyacinths were sent to Emma Pierce who served as treasurer 18 years. Regular April 17 meeting was canceled with planning for April 24.
The Richmond Bee published a 32 page pamphlet titled R. H. S. Alumnus in honor of the Richmond High School Alumni Association. It opens with a obituary of Walter H. Sturtevant, notes his roles as merchant telegrapher musician town clerk and historian, and credits editor Ray Meserve and gift editor Margaret I. Bailey. The booklet includes the association constitution by laws banquet accounts for 1925 and 1924 and a full roster of alumni from the first class of 1877 onward, with 14 pages listing names occupations and residences through class 1924.
State health officials issue a warning on rapid influenza spread and transmission through close contact. Mulligan stevedores unload into cage cars at Maine Central railroad. Tug Falcon will join soon to run ferry service from the Provinces. Barge Tohickon from Philadelphia with two hundred tons of anthracite for Purinton Bros tops upriver cargoes.
The Bath Loan and Building Association directors declared a regular dividend of shares for the period ending March 31, 1925. A new series of stock is issued April 1 and open for subscription. At the annual meeting William L. Skelton and Fred H. Thompson were elected to fill vacancies, with George W. Dean as president, Joseph Torrey as vice president, Arthur L. Pratt secretary and treasurer, and Walter S. Glidden attorney.
Delinquent health certificate holders are being notified. some were due early this year and others on various dates. If certificates are not received by the 8th, they will be brought before the court. The State Department of Health enforces the law strictly and will prosecute noncompliers. If you filed but did not complete, submit to the city sanitarian promptly.
At Morse high last Wednesday evening the Bailey School of Industries hosted teachers, the Board of Education, and the parent teacher association for a closing program. Principal Mrs Ella Carey and Clinton D Wilson presented certificates while pupils received gifts. An exhibit showcased garments, hats, dresses, and handicrafts from various classes, with stage settings and models reflecting home making projects. The Morse high orchestra provided music and about 300 attendees enjoyed cake and coffee.

Twelve of Mrs. C F Ripley’s pupils performed a musicale at her home with solos duets and group numbers led by Maxine Coombs Christine Thibodean Margaret McNeil and the Coombs children Evelyn Virginia and Wesley Tem Madeline and Theo McNeil Gertrude Moses and others. The program included Where Are You Going My Pretty Maid Orange Blossoms Grow The Song of the Kitchen Clock Run Pony Run Starlight Waltz Whisperings of Love and Shower of Roses. In early June the fourth grade pupils will entertain the younger grades.
Trenry F. Carlton of Woolwich won the bid for the Nequasset fishway archives in a six bid field. The selectmen announced the Friday night closing and will not release the bid amount yet. Fish are expected to arrive any day.
Charles P. Wetherbee is appointed to a consulting post on the machinery design for Navy Department 10,000 ton cruisers at Washington. He will work there intermittently during the project. Fred J. Till of Bath National Bank has stamps from the State of Maine for generating revenue. they sell at $1.50 per 1000 and will be affixed to the reverse of envelopes.
In a special convocation of Montgomery and St Bernard R. A. Chapter the newly elected officers were installed by P.E.P. Walter S. Glidden with assistance from P.H.P. Arthur B. Stilphen as grand captain of the host and W.F. Walter Russell as grand chaplain. The retiring High Priest Arthur Stilphen received a past jewel. Rebecca N Gratz Jackson spoke. Refreshments followed. list of new officers includes Eugene McGrath high priest and Delmar Bates captain of the host among others.
