The incident nearly caused an accident, highlighting motorists disregard for stopping trolley cars and a law against driving past a stopped street car. Enforcement may follow.

State Highway Officers Thompson and Crosby stopped two overloaded motor trucks on Route 1. Frank Copp of Brunswick admitted 1400 pounds overweight and paid a $16.95 fine in municipal court. Sherward Upham of Rockland, driving for Kalers Express, was found to be 2830 pounds overweight and ordered to appear in court. The Bath to Rockland route section noted as permanently surfaced is the new concrete stretch from the Dike over last Fall.

A Westbrook grocer earlier faced inquiry after displaying horsemeat for sale as dog food, revealing the illegal sale of horsemeat.
