Daily pleasures and travels fill the week with ice cream at Englie's and Gehring's bakery while residents and visitors like Philip Schumacher and Mrs. Thos Schulte head to Cincinnati and Indianapolis for errands and visits. Public auction of the Hammerle residence is planned, and sewing machines appeal at P Boerstler's.

The First National Bank of Batesville will open with capital stock of $39,000 all subscribed. It will operate in temporary quarters initially and move to a new building with modern improvements and a burglar and fireproof vault. Stockholders are leading local businessmen, and the bank aims to be Ripley county’s first national bank.
During a Monday electrical storm in Horton Indiana Charles Cady's two story home was struck by lightning. Mrs. Cady, age thirty, on the second floor was killed instantly as the bolt burned a blister on her foot and burned the house. Mr Cady suffered burns while fighting the fire. The remains are to be interred Wednesday at ten o'clock.
The Modern Woodmen of America local camp marks Decoration Day on Sunday June 4 with a 3 30 p m hall gathering to march to St John s cemetery for a short address and ceremonies Geo F Klein to speak and a memorial service at St Mark s church Rev Gringer to preach the memorial sermon in the evening Neighbors urged to meet at their hall 7 p m and march to St Mark s church for services inviting the public to attend
The Batesville Reserves beat Aurora Krebs 5 to 3 at the local ball park Sunday. Terry and Baker pitched well for the visitors and locals, but Batesville capitalized with three runs in the first inning and held on. Errors by Benz and A Nickel helped the Krebs in the third, while clean hitting and timely plays kept the Reserves ahead. Attendance was strong and a rematch is expected later in the season.
On Sunday June 11 the Reserves meet the Osgood Shamrocks at the local park. Benz will pitch for the Reserves and Saddler or Kinnett will start for the Shamrocks. Kate Oswald departed for Indianapolis Wednesday evening. Ice cream soda at Meyers restaurant.
