Mrs. R. N. Papet visited her daughter Mrs. H. M. Pettit in Lawrenceburg on Saturday morning and planned to return to Hammond, Ind., to see her husband, R. N. Papet, on Sunday.
Rev. John Martin of Berea Ohio, financial agent for the Methodist Educational Institute, traveled from Berea to Batesville on Saturday and then to Lawrenceville on Sunday to collect funds for Berean college.

Wernke, living between Batesville and Morris, to sell by public auction on Tuesday March 4 1902 at 9 a.m. three milch cows two work horses twelve shunts two farm wagons two buggies binder mower cultivators hay rake hay fork roller corn drill corn shelter four tons of hay 73 bushels corn 75 bushels oats 125 fence posts potatoes cooking stove and other household goods. Twelve months credit on sums over five dollars secured by note with sufficient surety.

Henry Severinghaus and wife visited Shelbyville. Mrs Lotta McCallum traveled to Cincinnati and Clifton Heights. Sheriff Voss moved toward Indianapolis with Luther Thackery to an insane asylum. Plow sale prices cut at Walsman. Rev Rollie Beach to preach at English M E Church next Sunday.
A group of fourteen to fifteen Batesville and Cross Roads youths enjoyed a sleigh ride Friday night at Henry Miller's near New Pennington followed by a midnight supper.
The notice states the writer will not attend township business until after 12 o'clock on Saturday each week and asks all parties with business to call on Saturday afternoon.
Peter Smith and wife of Balls town Fred Brummer and Henry Severinghaus and wives traveled to Shelbyville last week to attend the funeral of their nephew Ed Brummer son of Gus Brummer formerly of this place.
Direct On Saturday February 15 1902 Joseph Scheele aged 76 born in Germany who came to America in 1873 died. He leaves three sons and two daughters. His remains were buried in Oldenburg cemetery on Tuesday in a funeral conducted by his nephew Frank Fragge. William Scheele of Noble Arkansas attended the funeral arriving Monday morning.
Mr and Mrs George A Cook attended the funeral of his mother at Oak Forest on Friday aged 83. Funeral services were held in Brookville on Tuesday morning and she was interred at Wolf Creek cemetery.
The Room No 6 program at St Clair's Hall features two choruses, an address by Andrew Kops, several comic sketches and plays including Cabman No 93 My Jeremiah and Hans Von Smash, a Hatchet Drill by sixteen girls, Edna Beck solo and duets, a quartet, recitations by Mr. Austin, and a mystery reveal. Doors open 6 pm curtain at 7 pm with refreshments after.
Henry Behrman and his wife two babies and mother in law narrowly escaped a collision when a 1 PM eastbound train struck their sleigh at a crossing west of town. Two horses bolted. one was killed, the other unharmed. Behrman seeks a replacement horse. The crossing whistle reportedly sounded only seconds before impact.
The Batesville Public School proposes a two hour program featuring roaring farces, songs, drills, declamations, and humorous recitations to mark Washington's Birthday. It requests 50 to 60 volumes for the Public Library and notes a corrected date of February 27 at St. Clair Hall with refreshments after.
Married on Sunday afternoon Beth 16 wed Benjamin Meeker at Squire Stockinger home in Ballstown. The couple named are said to be honored. Henry C Greemann and wife visited Cincinnati to see their daughter Awertha who is attending college there.
Fred Dieckman and his Greensburg family visited relatives and friends this Sunday, sharing time and conversation in town.
The Knickerbocker collided with a freight engine at Lawrenceburg Junction on Thursday night. The freight engine crowded the switch mouth as the Knickerbocker passed, pushing the Knickerbocker engine off the track and wrecking both engines. The wreck blocked the line preventing 35 and 37 from crossing that night.
About eleven Orientals from Batesville and two from Newpoint traveled to Sunman last Saturday to assist in initiating several new princes. Reports say 18 were initiated into Oriental customs with good order and swift progress though some heavyweights were exempted from the silvering dances to avoid shaking the building. The Batesville group praised the trip, ceremony, and reception at Sunman.

Kramer sells trunks and travel goods at low prices. Miss Anna Hirt finishes stenography studies in Cincinnati and returns home. Boorn couple Simpson welcome a new son born February 12 in Sheldon Illinois.

The Oriental goat owned by Chas Meyer bit the horse on the back after the horse tried to remove the nuisance. The confrontation led the goat to butt the horse in the head, causing a deep gash requiring five stitches.
The Indiana Oil Company appoints G. A. Baas as local representative authorized to take shares sold at 30 cents each. Shares are non assessable with full money refund from earnings before any dividends. first dividend 24 percent monthly on Feb. 15.
