The St John s Sunday school at Huntersville hosted a Thursday night event with a cantata recitations and dialogues. Vocal and instrumental music enhanced the program and Rev Freudenreich assisted Rev v Hahmann in devotional services.

Miss Anna Fehlinger returned from Cincinnati Monday to visit Flora Bezner. Flora Bezner went to Terre Haute Thursday to rejoin school after visiting parents near Ralls town. Henry Hoene Sr and son Henry attended a relative's funeral in Cincinnati Sunday returning that night. Martha Stockinger left Ballstown for Terre Haute to resume school today. Henry Hoyer Shelbyville and Louis Hoyer Jonesboro spent the holidays with their parents George Hoyer and wife. Services at St Mark's next Sunday night with German sermons by Freudenreich and von Hahmann. The new year brought sunshine and prosperity to the area. Philip Eglehoff Oldenburg was in town on business Monday. The Tribune benefited financially by his visit and invites others to remember the paper.
Hermano Compart came down from Indianapolis where he works for Standard Wheel Co on Tuesday morning last week to spend Christmas with home folks. He returned Sunday morning after subscribing for the Tribune.

Miss Linda Turner returned to Indianapolis Monday after holidays with home folks. Anna Thielking returned to Cincinnati Sunday after holidays here. Frank Ehret and wife left for Chicago Tuesday morning. Friends sent good wishes with them. Misses Zierer Sick and Ed Unnewehr went to Shelbyville this morning after holidays. R. J. Timmerman went to Cincinnati Monday to replenish jewelry stock. Watch services held at English and German M E churches on New Years Eve. A A Hackman and son from Oldenburg along with Fred Schrader, G W Gelvin, John Pfalsgraff and D McCallum went to Indianapolis Monday for Republican love feast. John, Herman and Adolph Kaiser and wives went to Olean last week to see Julius Kaiser who was ill with bowel inflammation.
Mrs. CuarRa DIRKS expresses gratitude to Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and Superintendent H. G. Burk and Agent A. F. Wordeman for the full payment of a $1,000 policy on her deceased husband and recommends immediate life insurance payments.
Julius Kaiser of Olean died Sunday at 6 30 am at his home aged 66 years 7 months 8 days He leaves a wife and seven children three daughters Anna Hillig Haven Laura Jannegan near Versailles Agnes Schulte Cincinnati and four sons John Herman Adolph Hugo all Batesville The funeral was largely attended by friends and interment was in the old Lutheran cemetery at Olean Tuesday at 1 pm
Two Milan youths John Dever 26 and Grace Fallis 24 drowned after slipping into a cut in the pond ice during a late night skate. Dever leaves a wife and infant son. Fallis is married to a railroad worker from Indianapolis. Both burials occurred on New Year’s.

Harry Peetz from Indianapolis stayed with his parents for several days. Henry Krieger from Shelbyville visited relatives. Mary Oser from Cincinnati spent time with her folks here. August Behlmer and family with John Behlmer spent Wednesday with relatives at Sunman.

The second act at Cross Roads last Thursday featured a lengthy program of declamations and dialogues by children plus a notable cantata. Della Schwier stood out as the dying child with moving grace while Elma Goyert as angel provided visual and musical impact. Rev. Flantz merits credit for shaping the program.

The Indianapolis Journal reports 756 004 children of school age in Indiana in 1900 with 564 807 enrolled, leaving 191 197 out of school. Enrollment was 76 percent, above Massachusetts 74 percent, and Indiana averaged 152 days of school. The state employed 15 617 teachers, 46 percent male, with pay disparities noted between Indiana and Massachusetts.
