Two Kinds of Tuberculosis Reported by Royal Commission
London reports that the Royal Commission on Tuberculosis found two forms of consumption. Experiments on animals showed one group caused rapid fatal generalized tuberculosis while the other produced mostly local disease with possible spontaneous cure. It is not yet possible to determine which type a patient has. The work also challenges Isoch's view that bovine and human tuberculosis are distinct diseases.

Money Scare Averted and Prosperity Assured
A money scare ended as Roosevelt Administration actions restored confidence. President says the country is more prosperous, money available for business, and government holds ample funds. The plan to issue indebtedness certificates aimed to encourage circulation and curb hoarding, with financiers approving the scheme and officials promising prompt, secure measures. The 1908 Republican National Convention is expected to be unusually interesting after a history of tame contests.

The Holiday View of a Stabilizing Economy
An article argues that the financial scare is over and confidence returns to markets. It cites increased investment demand, stronger bank prospects, and Europe’s reassurance, while noting President Roosevelt’s stance and calls for currency reform by the next Congress. It recalls Grant and Chicago conventions to illustrate political certainty and leadership.
