The St Louis school plans a Christmas show at the town hall on Sunday December 29 1907 and New Year’s Eve 1908. Doors open at 7:00 with performances starting 7:30 tickets cost 25 cents with reserved seats 10 cents extra. The program features an orchestra salutatory a welcome song Christmas star drill by the Young Poachers two acts of Christmas Bells Weihan Nacht Traum Jest Fore Christmas The Snow Brigade passing of the seasons Hear dem Bells Tom’s Joke tableau Gute Nacht and Happy New Year.
January 4 at the town hall the Retz Nehrbas musical and dramatic team will present a evening of violin and vocal solos, duets, and sketches. A refund promise if not satisfied and reserved seats available at Baas Schultz's drug store.
The Citizens Saving and Loan Association moves meeting nights due to holidays from December 25 to December 26 and from January 1 to January 2, 1908, per secretary G W Johann ing. Local notices mention visiting relatives, travels, and births with names such as Mrs Anthony Voegele and Mrs Jake Burgman. several residents are noted in Batesville and Morris, with various trips and a birth on December 23, 1907.
At 11 o'clock Saturday night a fire destroyed the Star Cigar Box Company factory, with cedar lumber fueling intense heat. Firefighters battled through smoke and collapsing heat, wearing down crews, and saved the iron-clad structure while losses included machinery and building. Insurance totals were $3,300, not covering full ruin.
On December 12 1907 Fifteen of Prof Shaddays pupils surprised veteran Batesville teacher Henry Terry marking his 44th birth anniversary. They gathered at Walnut and George streets then arrived at his home around 8 p m for games stories and a festive evening ending with Christmas and New Year wishes. Ed Kelso noted his revenue duties in the dry territory and wet territory contrasts while local social updates follow.
Batesville common schools organized an exchange selling 10 cent tickets and goods donated by patrons. About $75 in tickets were sold, with profits largely from sale of food and items at favorable prices. Teachers and pupils earned praise for managing the event, which benefits the schools. Lieutenant-Governor Hugh Th. Miller visited Batesville on Tuesday and traveled to Sunnian before returning to Columbus. He spoke with many Republicans, left a favorable impression, and expressed strong confidence in his gubernatorial bid. He cited his Fourth District base as solid for his candidacy.
The St. Louis choir presents a Christmas program with ALL A.M. Introduction, Silent Night Rob erts, Brown's mass by the choir, Adeste Fideles Werner, and Venite Adoremus Werner at 9:30 A.M. Solemn Levitical Highmass and sermon, Van Bree's Mass by the choir, Offertory and Venite Adoremus at 2:30 P.M. Solemn Vespers Weiss, Benediction and Te Deum. The music will be performed by the St. Louis choir members.

The Republican groups of Ripley County Indiana plan meetings on Saturday January 11 1908 to elect precinct committeemen township chairmen delegates and alternates to state and district conventions.
