Plow shares sold at Brummer's machine shop while Meyer's offers low prices on wire fencing and cedar shingles. Walsman’s lists apple peelers, and Gehbrinog's bakery serves ice cream daily. several residents travel to Greensburg and Cincinnati on business and for visits. The German Methodist picnic, local craft shop shutdown, and a bakery sale mark a busy week with weather delaying farm deliveries.
George Richter and his father celebrated their birthdays together at the west end camps. A surprise at the former’s home brought relatives and friends to mark George passing his 29th mile stone and Uncle Adam Richter turning fifty the same day. Music food and abundant cheer filled the day with attendees from Finke’s Church Napoleon Osgood Pleasant Park Ballstown and surrounding areas.
A large crowd packed the town board discussing sidewalk contracts street condemnations and railroad guarantees for freight tracks. The railroad’s demands for preserved tracks and a 50 foot parallel street were tied to future development as contracts rolled out over Tuesday and Wednesday with Krieger and Billingsley prominent. Epworth Park hosted Rev. Arthur Gringel’s Bryan day lecture on The Throbbing Heart of America drawing broad attendance and applause.
Mrs Elizabeth Richter returned from Indianapolis Sunday evening after a two weeks visit with relatives. She was accompanied by Mrs Michael Heller who visited here until Tuesday morning. Alex Nusbaumer and family left Thursday for Keystooge Indiana to spend time with friends and relatives. Alex Seitz and family of Cincinnati were guests of John Lehmkuehler and family Sunday.
Miss Rosa Meyer travels from Cincinnati on Sunday to visit her parents, staying for the occasion.
Mrs Chas Doll and her children visited relatives in Indianapolis on Thursday. H C Canfield undertook a business trip to the West the previous Friday.
The Retail Merchants Association of Batesville spent a day at Thies Grove, arriving about 9:30 after an 8:30 departure. Four baseball teams played two games while croquet, food and social time filled the day. Scores ranged around 7 to 8, and attendees reported a hearty, enjoyable outing likely to be repeated.
Patrons are urged to send all pupils of legal age to school to allow proper classification by teachers on the first day. Outsiders must file a legal transfer upon entry. A new Batesville passenger depot will be built near Park and Western avenues, instead of the Napoleon and Brookville road, due to road depth and bridge concerns.
Dr. A. E. Martin and Clarence Greemann rode to Cincinnati on the early train Thursday and bought a fine driving horse and rig before returning that evening. Clyde Rhoades of Hillsboro Texas, visiting his aunt Mrs. Zueke, left for home Tuesday morning.
Miss Katherine Schultz departed Thursday morning to visit her sons and daughter in Shelbyville for a stay.

In a seven inning rain curtailed game Batesville Reserves overcame Cincinnati Excellos 8 to 7 led by timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Terry started for the Reserves with seven strikeouts while Magnus fanned four for the Excellos as the crowd stayed to see the comeback before weather ended play.
Friends of George Drake and family held a Thursday night surprise party for his 31st birthday. Attendees included George Dennizon and family William Jenkins and family Jobn Behlmer and wife George Travis and family Mr Dickman and wife Mrs Nellie Livingston Miss Katie tetcher Miss Blanch Canfield and Louis Zierer. Cake and watermelon and music made the evening enjoyable. Rev Rector and family, visiting friends, left Tuesday to visit Terre Haute before returning to Florida.
Henry Korgman from near Napoleon visited town last Sunday to see his sweetheart. A wedding seems likely as the couple shows strong prospects for marriage. The Misses Hertha and Nora Greemann left Wednesday for visits in Tipton Elwood and Indianapolis.
Mrs Noland of Ludlow Kentucky joined an outing on Sunday to spend about a week with Mrs Christ Pohl man.
