Loren Gray becomes cashier of Manderson State Bank after purchasing a third interest from O E Nowels. The Basin banker will move with his wife and family to Manderson by mid October to assume duties as the bank reorganizes under new leadership.

Coyotes Captured by Hedrick and Injured Dogs

Paul Hedrick a ditch rider for the territory brought in two coyotes last Friday after his dogs seized them. One coyote fought hard, leaving the dogs with cuts and scratches from the fight. The other coyote retreated into a rock ledge hole to brawl with the canines. E. E. Lonabaugh paused Monday en route to Worland to attend court.

Beet Sugar Plant to Start Machinery by October First

The territory beet harvest is expected to equal other regions. The company plans to start machines October 1 and begin sugar production once ready. A modern club house and entirely new machinery distinguish the facility, with beet dumps designed from latest concepts to reduce repairs.

Bank Clerk Delbert Davis Away On Vacation

Delbert Davis, a bank clerk for over a year, is away on vacation and will return by week’s end to resume duties. Kathleen O Neill, assisting in his absence, will stay on the clerical force for some time and has quickly grasped the work.

Trip Through Sugar Factory

The editor of The Republican toured Basin to Worland with Robert Henderson L A Henderson and Boyd Osborn to view the Wyoming Sugar Co project. They noted beets thriving despite rain and a water ditch break, and described Worland booming with a new factory nearing completion and a 600 ton daily beet capacity under Superintendent George Ritchie.

Basin Welcomes New Clothing Store Run by Clyde Warner

Clyde Warner, an enterprising Worland businessman, will open a Basin clothing store under a new name. He signed a lease for the former High Horn theatre building and ordered fixtures from Chicago to arrive by October 1. E. Silver will manage the Basin store after moving his family here. a formal Basin notice will follow.

Bishop and Armstrong Couples Plan East Coast Trip

Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Armstrong left last Friday for a month long trip through the east. They will visit Pittsburg and several towns in West Virginia.

Rushing Work Nears Finish on Courthouse Floor

The courthouse crew works night and day to finish the building and now has the second story floor in place. Workmen are hopeful they can eat Christmas dinner at home due to the progress.

Books For Soldiers And Sailors War Library Drive

The American Library Association plans a $1,000,000 fund to supply libraries for every army department. Library War Week begins September 24, inviting at home supporters to contribute one dollar to fund a book for each service member, with ongoing books as each is read.

Big Horn County Tops Wyoming State Fair Exhibits

The Douglas state fair closed after a record year with Big Horn county crowned banner exhibitor. The article lauds Big Horn for 1200 square feet of displays, 180 ribbons, and over 500 dollars in winnings, plus strong county booths and support from Washakie and Natrona counties.
