Wyoming County Fair Opens With Education and Entertainment

The county fair enters its ninth year with higher quality exhibits and new departments including a major fish display. Promises farm education, livestock, horticulture, school work, and Ladies and Boys club entries while keeping 50 cent admission and exciting events for two and a half hours each evening. Local acts like Basin Girls Saxophone Band and Greybull Choral Club slated, with homegrown rodeo and square dances planned under Frank Little and Rex Nave management.

Kensington entertainments support Methodist Aid in series

Mrs G B Brigham hosted fourteen ladies at a Kensington gathering for the Methodist Aid with delightful refreshments. The event began a series of Kensingtons for the Aid and was followed by Mrs R G Belton hosting a second Kensington and Mrs H M Sheive hosting a three course breakfast with a very enjoyable time reported.

Grand Lodge K of P Meets in Basin Wyoming

The Grand Lodge of Wyoming Knights of Pythias gathered in Basin with wide turnout from state lodges. A Tuesday ceremonial saw several members cross the burning sands, and the Pythian Sisters held their grand lodge the same dates. Basin hosts next year’s meetings, with Newcastle chosen as site. R B Landfair of Basin elected Grand Chancellor for the ensuing year.

Hay Wins Over Carey In Sweetwater County Gubernatorial Primary

Recount in Sweetwater County increases John W. Hay lead by two votes while Robert D. Carey gains net two votes. Hay’s statewide margin seen as 1,565 after county totals show Hay 1,841 to Carey 275. Governor Carey concedes defeat and thanks supporters as he says he would run again as a Republican if a future candidacy arises.

Surgeon Treats Honeymooner in Yellowstone Trip

Dr Chester Harris was called to Mammoth Hot Springs for Dr John Chambers of Chicago who faced grave intestinal troubles during a park honeymoon. In Cody the operation removed displaced lower intestines and appendix. The patient rests easily with recovery possible after the jolting car ride. Dr Harris was joined by his wife and mother on the trip.

Hay Wins Governor and Other State Races

Cheyenne reports show John W. Hay leading by 467 votes for governor. Frank Lucas of Buffalo tops for secretary of state by 321 votes. Hiram Johnson is renominated for California senator after a large fight by 63,000 votes. Montana sees Riddick ahead of Rankin for senate by 690, and Scott Leavitt leads for congress by 743, a figure aided by his park to park highway work.
