The Council of National Defense forms a county wide committee led by Hon. P. W. Metz to oversee the Liberty Loan drive. Precinct chairs and members are named across Basin Cleverly Germania Denver Odessa Manderson Kane Greybull Lovell Byron Cowley Agent Raymond Otto Burlington Hyattville Bonanza Shell So far Big Horn County shows patriotic record and urges strong subscriptions to the three billion dollar Second Liberty Loan. Subscriptions from $50 accepted with staged payments through Jan 15 1918. bonds pay 4 percent interest and are a safe investment.

Dean Thornberry in town to aid Episcopal children home drive

Dean Thornberry of Laramie Wyoming visited town a few days this week to support the Episcopal children's home bought last spring. He aims to raise thirty thousand dollars to improve the property for about 100 children. He has collected roughly three hundred ten thousand in the state and about one thousand in Basin.

Brooks Appeals to Wyoming Women Clubs

Thermopolis October 8 ex Gov B B Brooks addressed the Wyoming Federation of Women’s clubs urging continued support for war efforts. He urged work while waiting and praised War Godmothers and local club activity in Thermopolis. Seventy seven delegates representing 766 club women left with renewed patriotism for the home front.

Noted Democrats Here Visit Basin For Campaigns

Last Saturday noon acting Governor Frank L. Houx and John E. Osborne from Denver arrived in Basin to start preliminary campaigns for governor and senator. They met with prominent local Democrats, then traveled 24 hours later to Greybull for further political business. Houx is well known in the area while Osborne, a Denver native, recently moved to Rawlins to establish residence for a Senate run.

Mrs. Jay D. Bacon and her seventeen month old baby arrive today from Denver. Mr. Bacon is the new manager of the Lee Bacon Motor Co. They plan to live in the D. T. Hand property until the Welsh flats are vacated by R. H. Ahrens.

Delightful Evening At Theatre And Slumber Party

On Wednesday evening Mrs. J. M Smith and Mrs. R. J. Extra entertained at a theatre and slumber party. Present were Mesdames R. A. Gould, Wm. Gibson, Walter Iles, Lou Blakesley, O. T. Young, F. H. Whitmore and P. P. Anderson. After the picture show they returned to the Extra home for a luncheonette at two o'clock and the night ended with more slumbering.
