Deceased Delbert Hopkins Dies in Camp Kearny

Delbert Wallace Hopkins 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins of Burlington, died November 5 at Camp Kearny California. Military funeral held in Basin under the Basin home guards with services led by Rev C Wardlaw Rev M F Newport and Bishop McNiven. Burial followed in Burlington cemetery after services in Basin.

Santa Claus to Boys and 100 extra Christmas cartons

The Red Cross chapter and Mothers and Friends with the Women’s Club requisition 100 extra cartons for army boys in four states. Ten thousand names are needed to fill the mountain division’s quota for Christmas remembrances. Mail parcels by November 20 and designate one responsible name. Contact the Red Cross work room to pick up cartons.

Linotype operator takes vacation. Republican editor absent

T. Gebhart, linotype operator on the Republican, left last Sunday for a week's vacation in Great Falls Montana to visit his son Karl. He is accompanied by his daughter in law who had been visiting her mother near Burlington. Edgar L Beard will supervise his department during the absence.

Return From Hunting Trip Fails to Find Elk

Judge P. W. Metz R. B. Landfair Earl Sprague W. C. Olson and son Bert returned Wednesday from a Duck creek Wood river hunting trip. Several in the party secured deer but no elk were spotted.

Armistice Signed Ending World War I Front Battles

Germany signed the armistice at 2 45 AM last Monday and firing ceased at 11 AM the same day. The pact evacuates occupied Belgian French Alsace Lorraine and Luxemberg while Allies occupy left bank Rhine fort towns. Germany to surrender most navy submarines planes and guns. Allied troops begin occupation until peace treaty is signed. Locally celebrations followed once confirmed amid parades and community events.

Red Cross Big Horn Chapter Plans Nov 20 Meeting

Notice states the annual meeting of the Big Horn County Chapter of the American National Red Cross will be held Wednesday November 20 1918 at 4 p m in the Court House Work Room Basin Wyoming. Agenda includes election of an Executive Committee reports review and by law amendments. Meeting postponed due to Spanish influenza epidemic with approval from Divisional headquarters. Celebrated Peace Trip To Thermopolis

Basin residents joined a group to Thermopolis last Monday evening to finish celebrating peace. Participants included Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Armstrong Miss Margaret Ellsinger Mr. and Mrs. Guy Brill Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Pease and Mr. and Mrs. T. K Bishop. They returned home the next day.

Hunters Return With Bacon From South Fork Hunt

Len Murphy and son Clarence Earl Evans and Till Jones return from South Fork after a week long hunt. They phoned in yesterday for a car to Cody to bring in the meat, indicating they have secured the bacon.
