In a local vote the court house bond proposal carried by a near five hundred vote majority, securing funding for the project. The outcome reflects broad, though not unanimous, community support for the courthouse initiative.
In the North End precincts opposition faded as Bonanza banner precinct led with 31 to 0. Total bonds pass by substantial margin enabling a $60,000 court building, larger than prior plans. New York returns show Hughes leading in a close presidential race. A baby boy arrives for the Scratt family in Teneseep.
St Paul reports J A A Burrnquist Republican wins reelection as Minnesota governor with a narrow margin. Early returns show 97 precincts mostly in Minneapolis and Duluth favor Burrnquist over Wilson and Hughes with district counts varying by location. Catholic Ladies thank donors for home made candy sales raising funds for a bake sale event.
Neweska led in the dry column on Tuesday with a divisive margin of 21 000 as Montana followed with a similarly large lead. Missouri remains wet while Colorado shows beer amendment leading so far.
Across multiple states, presidential balloting showed shifting leads as results came in. California and North Dakota reported early advantages for Hawkins and Wilson, while Minnesota and New Mexico clung to small margins. West Virginia and Nebraska fueled uncertainty with partial tallies, and Indiana remained noncommittal despite Hughes leading in unofficial figures.
County Attorney W. S. Collins rested after a night at Basin hospital and was to undergo a second operation today by Mrs. Hants and M. H. Smith in hope of permanent relief. Doctors planned wiring the fracture to secure proper healing, a crucial step to his recovery. Friends awaited the outcome with anxious support.
In Oregon late results show Hughes ahead of Wilson by 6 459 with 33 of 35 counties reporting. Hughes 101 015 Wilson 94 435 In South Dakota incomplete returns place Hughes slightly ahead at Sioux Falls with 41 949 to 37 349. Washington yields Hughes 134 983 Wilson 141 116 and Michigan early tallies give Hughes 208 480 Wilson 181 017.
