James Richard Goodrich longtime Basin resident and Mountain View hotel proprietor dies after a fall and subsequent illness. Born 1864 in Jefferson County Massachusetts he traveled via Iowa and Colorado before settling in Basin in 1895. Survived by widow one brother two sisters and several grandchildren. funeral held with Masonic and K of P participation. mourners noted his community efforts and charitable spirit.

Progress Dinner Meeting For Road Day In Big Horn County
Members of the progress club met at Antlers last Wednesday with J B Thompson presiding. They approved minutes and welcomed a favorable report from the committee on funds for building the road across the Big Horns. Hart and West resigned from the inter mountain road committee and Ahreng and Metz were appointed replacements. D W Rogers proposed designating a June road day with picnic events to engage women and farmers. The club set the first Saturday in June as road day and urged countywide participation. The Manderson farmers union will discuss the matter, aiming for coordinated local action to improve road work. A committee of Sizer Rogers and Crosier will arrange observance details.

California for Teddy Leads as Roosevelt Dominates Primary
In California's first presidential preference primary women voted heavily for Roosevelt on the Republican ticket and Clark on the Democratic ticket. Taft placed poorly, La Follette third, with Wilson the only other Democratic candidate visible. Early counts show Roosevelt well ahead statewide, notably in Los Angeles and the south, with San Francisco close. Registered women turnout was higher than men, and all 26 delegates were elected at large under state law.

Rev H E Shepherd of Worland performed both ceremonies in a impressive manner. The couple will reside in Montana with Lucas taking a coal position in Glendive. The Scholz family and local friends offered warm congratulations. The brides will start housekeeping soon.
