Basin elects Wise as mayor and council with near total votes

The Basin city election had minimal opposition with 98 votes cast on Tuesday. Frank A. Wise led for mayor with 96 votes, R. R. Denny topped council with 95, and A. B. Martin earned 92. Mickey Douglas saved one vote. The piece lauds Wise's leadership and calls for economy and private enterprise style governance.

Memorial Day Services Invited at Basin Rex Theater 1919

Basin municipal officers church members school boards and veterans join General O O Howard Post 110 G A R for Memorial Day events at the Rex Theater on May 30 1919. The post will also attend St Andrews Episcopal church on Memorial Sunday May 25 with Dean Watkins delivering the memorial sermon. Public welcome.

Three Cowley youths jailed for car theft

Three youths from Cowley were brought to the county jail on Tuesday to serve thirty day sentences for stealing a Ford car. They drove about fifty miles in a joy ride and left the car in a ditch. The trio was tried in Justice Mann's court with County Attorney Little prosecuting.

Julian Snow returned home from France after military service and arrived last Sunday to a large welcome by friends and the Mothers and Friends delegation. He reports gaining weight during service and expresses happiness to be back in Basin with hometown folks.

Mies Constancy Skovgard entertained at a dancing party at Fraternity Hall last night. About fifty couples, some from out of town, attended with music by Dr. and Mrs. Van Slyke. A midnight luncheon followed, and guests praised the function as one of the season’s most enjoyable social events.

Mayor Frank A. Wise tells Omaha boosters they may salute as they wish when they arrive next Wednesday afternoon. A big siren salute is expected around four o clock signaling a lively town visit. Also reported a baby boy born to Mr and Mrs Max Thomas of Lander last evening.

Basin reporters note the Basin area forms the Northwest Wyoming Drainage Association. H. H. Hime elected president. districts Five Mile Worland Antelope North Beach Colter and Alamo represented by commissioners. Government Engineer Hart urged cooperation and Kennedy Atherly to prepare bids for district projects. Baseball club also organized with Hime Stewart Walker Drummott and A B Martin directing funds and team management.

In Greybull on Tuesday three tickets contested the city election. C. F. Lampman won the mayoralty and Nels Jimmerfield along with E. T. Fee secured two year council terms while Sam Pritchett was elected for a one year council seat.

A library meeting led by Rev. M. F. Newport discussed uniting Basin Protestant memberships into a single community church. A planning committee was chosen to gauge public support and call for a later public meeting, with adjournment until the committee acts.

Omaha boosters visit Basin in brief trade excursion stop

A Chamber of Commerce Omaha letter says the Omaha trade excursion arrives in Basin next Wednesday afternoon at 4 25 and stays until 5 30. The train has ten Pullmans and a baggage car with souvenirs to be distributed at stopping points along the route. Local entertainment will be minimal due to the short stop.

Misses Irwin Hostesses for Who Do Class Event

The Misses Louis and Ines Irwin were hostesses to the Who Do class on Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Wise. The evening combined class business with social games and refreshments. Guests departed praising the Wise home as a delightful meeting place.
