A renowned geologist and mining engineer toured the Basin region, praising its potential to become the world’s largest oil field. He noted that only shallow drilling has been done and predicted big future yields for outsiders with the right approach, amid a shift of focus to deeded lands as government land sales retreat.
W H W argues that Silit shall be authority to eliminate sakh districts from aid and to vote and levy the additional fund for high school purposes. Basin district could use the last clause, others need not. County commissioners Shelami Gould involved. appeal pressed to place the matter before the people.
Mr ami Mre M G Traugh of Uitto entertained at dinner last Saturday evening with G A Harris D E K Lewis and A W Coons of Basin. Torchlight properties overseen by Valentine interests seen ready to begin active operations after patent issuance. Contractors report plans for two wells per claim, with about thirty wells on the two claims starting next summer if patent arrives soon. Expected activity would boost Basin area jobs and housing.
The meeting of the Woman's club was postponed to a later date with an announcement to follow. The home economics group will meet at the library on Wednesday afternoon March 24. All women interested in this work are urged to attend.
The scene reports drilling started on the Cleveland T Lard lease across the river. Dr. C. Heory and wife have leased the place and a rig is expected to be set to work soon. Local estimates indicate a rapid development timeline with the operation moving forward in the near term.
Ed Meadows of Thermopolis leased the Rogers House and has taken possession with Mr and Mrs Meadows well known in the Basin area likely to attract good patronage. B Hartleft visited Denver for a short business trip. Miss Reed traveled from Kane to visit her parents. Fred Porshge of Manderson was in town yesterday.
A church fundraiser musicale at the Presbyterian church last Monday yielded a neat sum. The program featured Mrs. Harry Hime, Mrs. Fred House, Mrs. W. A. Robb, E. C. Hoover, John Arnott, Miss Kathleen O'Neil, and others with Mrs. Hime as violinist and the audience urged for encores. A social hour followed with refreshments. Thompson, Mayor. Berry urged action on the Basin to Otto road. W. 8. Colina was appointed to contact the commissioners. The meeting adjourned with no further business.
Word was received last Friday of the marriage in Bridger Montana of William Webb and Miss Dorothy Gould, both of Basin. They returned home the first of the week and will make their house here. Their friends extend congratulations.
