New Treaties Ratified By Senate For Draft Reciprocity
Washington June 27 The senate ratified treaties with Great Britain for reciprocal draft rules affecting British subjects in the United States and American citizens in Britain or Canada. Americans and Britons aged 21 to 31 may be drafted but may return home to serve under their own flag. The pact could affect about 54 000 people including 60 000 Canadians in the United States and 310 000 British subjects abroad. A new clause exempts citizens of signatory nations from draft in their foreign residence if exempt at home.
