Sykes, of Crooked Creek, is noted as deceased as the court hears various minor matters. The court opens Thursday morning in Thermopolis and again Thursday afternoon in Basin due to a larger than ever docket. Two judges were required because of the swelling litigation and many cases needing immediate attention.
Basin residents staged a mass trip to Manderson last Sunday for the Barn Yard Golf event. Len Murphy and Till Jones were noted for leading Basin participants in the tournament while a large picnic and gracious hospitality deepened friendly ties between the communities. Basin invites Manderson to visit again.
H. Barth this week purchased the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Douglas on South Fourth street. It is understood Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barth will reside there. The Douglas family plans to leave around September 1 for Omaha to make their home.
Eugene Watson, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Watson of Greybull, drowned Monday afternoon while swimming with other boys in a pond by the Big Horn river east of the Knode addition. Rescuers failed to revive him after diving for the body. Funeral services were held at the family home in Greybull and burial followed in Greybull cemetery.
Col May of the chamber of commerce built a Ford runway under a box elder tree in front of the chamber building to shade his Lizzie. Mrs May then drove the car to the shaded area and lost control, bumping the wall and denting the exterior. A chamber member suggested making Mrs May an honorary member for being the town booster.
An Illinois boy employed as a roustabout at an Ohio camp known as Hidden Dome died Friday afternoon after cramping while swimming in a pond following work. Camp workers attempted rescue but he did not survive as a wind and rain affected the area.
J R Bonwell reports from the field that financing for Doman Oil & Refining Co is progressing and a drilling rig from Marietta Ohio will arrive soon to test Sec 19 T52N R91W in the Morris anticline eight miles east of Greybull.

Leo Zastrow pleaded guilty before Judge Mots to grand larceny for stealing eight beaver hides from Tom Olney of Shell Wyoming. Zastrow had been employed by Olney. hides disappeared after his departure and were sealed per Guan procedures.
Bentence faces pending investigation of character as officials probe the sale. The case involves Wyoming laws and Zastrow transferring hides to a Denver firm amid scrutiny.
Grass Creek unable to play here next Sunday so the Colts will travel to Worland this Sunday to keep the schedule intact. The Colts seek revenge after two earlier defeats by the Beet boys and urge boosters to attend.
In a letter to the Republican J. H. Montgomery says he will not seek the representative race this summer. He cannot commit time due to private business, though many local friends urged him to run and support his nomination.
Manager Martin of the Rex announces another showing of the Harold Lloyd comedy Among Those Present. The picture was a big hit last night and is billed as one of the best Lloyd films.
Marshall Reynolds of Kemmerer, Internal Revenue Collector for Wyoming, visited Basin yesterday on official duty and while campaigning for the Republican congressional primaries. He met many locals and garnered support from district Republicans.
Paul Stock reports from Sheep Springs on Tuesday that range stock looks better than in years with nearly every cow having a calf. Grass is plentiful to the foothills and stockmen expect to market cattle in good condition this fall.
M. L. Gohn, operator of a vulcanizing plant in the Stine building, departed Wednesday without paying several creditors. Basin State Bank holds a chattel mortgage on stock and machinery and has begun foreclosure. H. M. Shelve now in charge for the bank.
John Lyman his wife and three children of Greybull Wyoming departed by Hudson Super Six on Saturday for California. They plan a Lewistown and Spokane route and will visit relatives en route.
