A reported robbery attempt in Sheridan ends with a suspect firing a shot injuring a man in the leg. Police are investigating and reviewing nearby surveillance. No motive or weapon details are confirmed at this time.
Undersheriff William H Veach and Deputy Sheriff Frank J Rue confronted ex convict Bear Foree in Sheridan while pursuing a horse thief. Foree shot Veach through the heart and was wounded by Rue. Rue was also injured. Foree was captured after a brief exchange near Carrolls real estate office and Olivers store on Broadway.
The civic committee of the Woman's club and Acme Amusement Co will host a picture show and dance on Wednesday, June 24, with proceeds funding a public drinking fountain in front of the post office. The program includes a humorous reading by Mrs. W. H. Hartigan, two musical numbers, and a repeat of the popular Pic'n al by grammar school conducted by Miss Aliee Thompson. A lively dance follows the show, and community patronage is urged to support the fountain project.
Wm Ball of the Valente crowd was thrown from a car 45 miles from Worland and 40 from Thermopolis in Grass Creek country. He suffered two badly explained or broken wrists and was rushed to Thermopolis Hospital. Franklin Hake owned and drove the car. accident occurred on a steep grade as the vehicle struck rocks under dirt causing a skid and overturn. W. L. Valentine was not seriously hurt.
Sunday’s game between Manderson and Basin devolved into a melee after a disputed third inning play. The Manderson manager led his players off the field tearing the rule book, leaving both teams to abandon the contest. Fans complain about players’ conduct and call for better sportsmanship.

Work in Little Buffalo begins as geologist Walker, A. T. Zinn, and G. J. Schenk depart last Sunday for surveying. Companies that hauled rigs into the area plan to commence operations and push the project rapidly from this date.
Sunday last marked the seventh wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. G Ralph Hoover. They hosted a dinner with guests Mr. and Mrs W S Collins Miss Juliet Collins and Mrs Alice Richardson. Also visiting were Fred J Pack geology professor at the University of Utah and Chas J L Mitchell Salt Lake attorney, connected with the Utah Wyoming Consolidated Oil company. They toured holdings near Byron. Hime BR J Extra Max Thomas and G W Black went to the Laman ranch on Paint Rock last Sunday, reporting water high for fishing but enjoying a good time.
G W Wack sold a Ford to L L McIntyre of Kirby this week. George has sold five cars on his last trip, making 46 Ford sales this year for his enterprising firm. The Ladies Aid will meet with Mrs J W Gould on Thursday June 21. A bake sale will be held Saturday next in the church building.
