Proclamation Declares Basin Work Day For Roads
Basin announces a city wide work day for better roads on Tuesday June 22 1920 in full accord with the Wyoming Good Roads association and the Big Horn County Good Roads association. Citizens are urged to suspend business and cooperate with authorities to organize highway improvement efforts. Eastern capitalists eye Bonanza shale oil leases
A group of eastern investors, drawn by oil shale near Bonanza, examined lands this week and filed for lease under the new law for a large tract adjacent to the original well. An oil geologist says tests indicate about thirty gallons of oil per ton, with plans to install an extraction plant and ship in drilling rigs. The Bonanza area reportedly has an abundant surface shale richer in oil than many fields, and may be the only workable shale deposit in the Big Horn Basin.
