Auto trade spree as local dealers swap cars

This week saw notable vehicle exchanges with H. H. Hime selling his Ford to Chas. Trane of the Shell, who then bought an Overland from John Lum of Hyattville. Mr. Lammen bought a Hupmobile from W. W. Murphy, highlighting a brisk local market.

California Oil Company to Begin Drilling at Torchlight Claim

D L Carryementay says patent issued for the Torchlight oil claim after 240 of 320 acres were selected and sent to Buffalo land office on July 5, with patent issued July 16. Valentina Petroleum and Migrosetting announce rapid development with two new standard rigs due next week. first target is encircling the claim with about 60 wells. Hyattville party, including Mr. and Mrs. H N Carstensen and Miss Nelle Neil, arrives in town with three rigs for a six week Park outing via Jackson's Hole and Thermopolis.

A Long Auto Trip Through Wyoming Mountains

Judge and Mrs. P. W. Mets traveled on a long auto trip visiting Wonand Tensleep Nowood Lost Cabin Kaycee Buffalo and Sheridan before returning by Billings. Wm Welch, missing from Hyattville near Dr Van Slyke’s home, traveled to Thermopolis then Denver. Cheyenne authorities detained him and he may cover board and costs about $90.

Des Moines visitors tour Basin amid rain issues

Hal Carpenter and wife and Grover Hindbell and wife, of Des Moines, arrived in Basin last Wednesday evening in a big touring car. They plan a trip to the North Fork of the Shoshone above Cody. They praised Basin roads after initial rain problems, saying roads are fine and Basin conditions are excellent.

Crosier, a rancher from Otfa area, recently returned from the Dry Horn mountains. He says his flock is doing fine, they are grazing well, and he has fed them the best hay he has ever seen.

Hay For Europe Haulers Drive Greybull to Germany Mail

Pred Garland operates a heavy truck daily from Greybull to Germany hauling hay bound for Easter Pointa and then to the war front in Europe. The truck runs two trips daily delivering five tons per load. A large additional quantity remains to be hauled and the company plans to buy all possible hay from other places, with reports of furnishing several thousands of tons.

Fishing Parties Through The Park

Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Racer and Rev. E. E. Brock left last Tuesday on a trip through the Yellowstone park. They will be away about twenty days with a fine outfit and camera to capture the park in pictures and prose for readers upon their return.

The Cleveland-Wyoming Oil company has purchased all Scott Mills rigs and drilling machinery. Mr. Mills becomes field voyager for the company. Rigs moved from Tilland place to J. B. Frisby land and drilling continues there with four Peralent camp established.

Little Paul Whitley Dies After Operation

Paul Whitley, eight year old son of Mrs. Alex Lucas, died Thursday night after surgery for a ruptured blood vessel. Born in Gilman City Missouri on July 15, 1907, he was an only child and popular with peers. Funeral set for Saturday at 2 PM at the Methodist church.

Former Basin Settler Wesley Morrow Visits Otto Today

Wesley Morrow an early Basin settler who lived in Otto years ago arrived from Canada for a fraternal visit. He will see the old home and longtime residents near Otto for several days, then proceed to Thermopolis for a course of study.
