Sudden Death of Benjamin C. Hankla

Benjamin C. Hankla, born September 1893 in Denver, died yesterday at 7:20 AM from a brain hemorrhage after a short illness. He lived in Basin for years, worked near Burlington earlier, and was a prominent local figure. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Wm. Gideon Undertaking Rooms, with Rev. The county clerk issued a marriage license last Wednesday to We J Mizera and Miss Nina Leon Shafer, both of Greybull. The bride is well known in the Basin, having lived here all her life and was born near Where Mandersen on stands. Both parties have many friends who wish them prosperity and happiness.

Refinery manager F D Vincent plans to oversee the new Grey refinery project and will reside in the Higby house in Basin after redecorating. He traveled from Pennsylvania with his wife and children and will split time between duties and settling in Basin.

Runaway Accident Near Continental Oil Tanks

Last Monday a team from N P Larson of Otto was startled by a passing auto near the Continental oil tanks. The team bolted past Black's garage and in front of Amhearson's hardware store, breaking the wagon and harness but sustaining only minor damage. Claude Derby, a long-time depot station employee, left Monday for an extended visit to Denver and other Colorado points for several weeks.

Mrs Webber Dies in Burlington Family Tragedy

Mrs N Webber mother of Mrs Joe Hensley of Burlington died Wednesday night in Thermopolis after a long illness. Her family was with her at death. The body was sent to the old Montana home for burial, with Mr and Mrs Joy Hensley accompanying it.

County commissioners, after a session of equalization, adjusted property values with net county change near 20,000 dollars. About 70,000 dollars in Basin properties were lowered by 30 percent. Hay Trade Links Peters Mining to Basin Market

James Anderson of Peters Mining, based in Ouuua, has spent weeks in the Basin buying hay for shipment to the company. He has purchased about 1,000 tons of alfalfa for the Germafila beach and plans more buys. Nebraska’s poor alfalfa crop pushes demand to irrigated western sources. Much of the hay is older, and sales will ease a congested market. County Agent Home A. H. Tedman of Big Horn county returns from Fort Collins after coordinating meetings with Colorado agents. Chautauqua at Greybull Draws Big Crowds and Praise

Reports from Basin attendees describe one of the most successful chautauquas ever held at Greybull with strong financial results. Friday and Saturday saw about 15 autos traveling from Basin each day, while Sunday and Monday drew the largest crowds as people waited to hear top road entertainers.
