County Fair Largest Yet Promoted by Col May Secretary

County Fair directors met, selecting Col Spud May as secretary to lead preparations for the county’s biggest fair. Plans include county backing, multiple improvements, and September dates aimed at a standout Basin country event with extensive section involvement and strong promotional push.

Change At Manderson In Hardware And Grocery Stores

J A Quiner bought O E Nowells stake in the hardware store and moved the groceries and merchandise adjacent. H T Church of Sleep bought Quiners interest in the grocery business. A larger stock will be carried and both aim to run one of the area’s most up to date stores. Pratt Larsen marriage license issued to Arthur Pratt and Norma Larsen of Otto. The groom is a Greybull valley rancher. the bride is the daughter of N P Larsen. Big Horn theatre hosts Tom Christy’s all white minstrels this Sunday and Monday. Tickets 25, 50 and Th. Will build fines hall of the week lodges stock activity

A plan outlines building a brick fraternity hall beside Basin. The project aims to channel activity into the fields and stock in the company, with multiple lodges to take part.

Builders plan brick hall for Basin lodges after fire

A Monday meeting of Bazin Hall Co stockholders and members of the I O F M W A and Masonic lodges decided to build a new brick structure on Fourth Street to replace the damaged Fraternity hall. Plans call for a two story 30 by 100 foot modern building with commercial space on the first floor and lodge rooms above. estimated cost about 14,000 with 6,400 already pledged. The project aims to serve Basin and nearby lodges, with construction to begin in coming weeks.

County Jail Escape Splits Three Prisoners From Lock

Three prisoners escaped from the county jail Wednesday evening by sawing locks and bars on the north window. J W Harvey and Ed Lyner were recaptured near Shipman Place, while Peter Valkansas the Greek fled toward the hills and a sheriff’s pursuit continued with passes between Sheep Canyon and Kane. Sheriff Wickwire hunted the Greek as of Friday morning, with officers on both sides preparing to close in.

Frank A Wise improves after Thermopolis visit

Word from Thermopolis reports Frank A Wise is considerably better. M R Douglas hired a band on Tuesday to give Frank a concert at the Washakie but Mickey denies hiring the band. Frank’s improvement cheers his Basin friends as he moves toward recovery. Lin Noble may have played solo, per Frank’s belief.

Benskin Cashner Marriage Linked to Torchlight Claim

Fred L. Benskin and Mamie M Cashner received a county clerk issued license on Wednesday and were wed that evening at the Methodist parsonage by Rev. A. M. Creath. The groom works for Midwest on the Torchlight claim. the bride hails from Greefey Colorado.

Greybull Chautauqua Opens With Strong Attendance

Greybull Chautauqua opened Wednesday night to a good attendance. A fine daily program has been prepared through the 17th. Basin residents have attended and a large crowd expected to visit Greybull tonight.

Allen Improving After Railroad Accident

Word from Dr Giray at Worlanks hospital says Ova Allen, injured in a railroad wreck in that town last week, is steadily improving and has a good chance for a complete recovery. This news brings relief to the many relatives in Bagen.
