General Funston Dies After Collapse in San Antonio Hotel
Major General Frederick Funston died tonight in San Antonio after a collapse in his hotel room following dinner. Physicians attributed death to acute indigestion. He was with friends and playing with his child when he fell unconscious. Mrs Funston and the couple’s three children are reported devastated.

Horse spooks rider. Barnes suffers leg fracture
Last Friday afternoon E. E. Barnes tried to guide horses when a horse lunged over a wire. He was knocked down by the horse and broke his leg below the knee. X rays show a badly splintered large bone within the knee joint.

Officials report Secretary Bonwell spent the day handling a flood of inquiries related to ten basin advertisement notices. The brisk activity reflects heightened attention to local water resources and basin management.
Basin Chamber of Commerce Sees Growing Interest
Since January 26 secretary Bonwell reports 289 inquiries from ads in eastern and midwestern papers. Large papers east of Chicago and South Carolina carried Basin notices, yielding strong responses.
