Washington notes two new Wyoming bills this week. Senator Warren seeks a Wind River game reserve as a breeding refuge free of hunting. Representative Mondell proposes granting patents to settlers on ceded Wind River land upon Indian price payment without proving continuous residence.
In a recent address Mondell drew parallels from Joshua to define trust questions in the house. He urged clear accountability for business leaders who defend trusts and highlighted efforts to align trusts with German law amid a long twenty one year fight. He warned that critics of antitrust enforcement pretend danger is absent and called for sane administration of the law.
The text argues that large organizations cannot gain unfair advantages and that competitors and the people must stand against oppression. It frames the anti trust struggle as a moral defense and asks whether support for the men who fought the battle will endure against attempts to undermine the cause through directed and indirect attacks.
The Big Horn County High School Girls Quartet led by Kathleen O’Neil Louise Spaulding Norene Wiley and Lois Coons drew praise in Thermopolis Cody and Basin reports. Critics praised Wiley’s readings Coons’ alto voice and the quartet’s versatile program noting encores and strong audience impressions despite modest attendance.

Basin Minstrels announce rehearsals with high quality solos and new stunts. The troupe promises entertaining routines and lively acts to thrill audiences in the upcoming performance.
Basin residents await a proposed local talent production by Company D benefitting the company funds. Soloists include H. Hime singing Ive Said My Last Farewell Dick Extra Baby Blue Eyes John Coons That Skeleton Rag Carl Harmon Elisabeth Ann J P Arnott Jr in a high tenor A F Marsh Oceana Roll John Arnott Sim Armstrong in a duet and others. The show date is to be announced next week after a Wednesday meeting. Proceeds will aid Company D and the community is urged to prepare for a major event in Basin.
Last Friday morning a test was made of the new pumping machinery at the water plant. Water was pumped into the new reservoir and everything worked as anticipated. Once the filter expert connects that part, the new machinery will be all of it utilized. Judge Parmelee will hold court here next month for about one week. A number of cases pending for some time will be disposed of.
The Progress club met at the Antlers last Wednesday with H. G. Ridgely presiding. Minutes debated exhibit at the Kansas City land show. referred to executive committee. A. Higby, R. H. Ahrens and G. W. Black named to study basin road conservation. Officers elected for the coming quarter: President J. B. Thompson, VP W. S. Collins, secretary R. H. Ahrens, treasurer Will Pease, exec committee O. T. Gebhart Josh Ellie J. G. Schenk, VP for central organization R. B. West. Ridgely thanked members as he leaves city, pledging to aid progress.
In the suit Bruer & Stanton versus the city and Katz Craig Construction, Judge Lampman entered a judgment of 200 dollars and costs against Katz Craig Construction. The defendant plans to appeal the result.
A brief death notice reports the death of M. Osacki, described as a Japanese employee at a local firm. The notice provides limited details and follows standard obituary phrasing typical of the period.
Glen Washer of Cody has accepted a position with J. C. Norrie at the OK barber shop and arrived this week to begin his duties. Washer is well known to many Balm so people and is recommended as the barber who closes. Mrs Julia A Budd of Manderson was shopping in Basia on Tuesday.
Billings high school defeated Basin 35 to 10 in a Wednesday night game at Fraternity hall. Vic Cotner refereed with Billy May umpiring as the crowd enjoyed a dance and the Basin girls quartet performed. The Montana visitors led 13 to 6 at halftime and widened the margin to 22 to 4 in the second half before adjourning to festivities.
Wednesday afternoon at Mountain View William Knauss and Nellie Morgan were united in marriage by Rev. M Joslin. The bride, a popular local girl, resides with her parents John and Mrs Morgan near Burlington. The groom, a prosperous rancher, has prepared a home on Germania beach and they will begin housekeeping at once.
Word from Thermopolis reports Ben Bader arrested in connection with an alleged holdup behind the Emery hotel bar where a bartender was robbed of 300 dollars. He is a well known former resident of Hyattville. Another man was arrested, both held on $3,000 bonds. No further details at press time.
A severe storm with a slow wind bore down all day, keeping travelers uncomfortable. Cold was intense but ranchers are prepared for winter, and stock injury is not expected. If the storm lasts, drifts could cripple train service, though yesterday’s trains ran near on time.
The Episcopal guild will convene with Mrs W J Stanley next Thursday afternoon January 4th.
Here Saturday the Cody team will play here with the local high school tomorrow night. Two previous games left both teams with a win. Local supporters urged to attend to help defray visiting team expenses and lift the club from debt. Mrs. Bernice Higby Dodge of Basia, Wyoming, visiting Mr. and Myre L. P. Albright. Sheriff B. F. Wickwire returned from Worland to serve legal papers.
