Fellowship meeting set by chamber of commerce

The chamber of commerce will hold its annual get together with members invited to gather for networking and updates at the community venue.

Chamber of Commerce Directors Plan Advertising Circular

A meeting chaired by President Wigton approved and ordered the printing of an advertising circular on Wyoming natural resources in cooperation with Wyoming Gas Co. The group set January 9 for the Good Fellowship banquet at the M B Church, served by Methodist aid, with about 300 attendees. A delegate to the Minneapolis meeting was authorized, plus several local business delegates.

No Light Or Power Disrupted At Local Plant

Owing to changes in machinery at the local power plant there will be no light or power next Sunday from 8 AM to 4 PM. Municipal service patrons should govern themselves accordingly.

Roy Conley of Thermopolis, hailed as the west’s leading welterweight, will face Johnie Knauf of Fargo North Dakota in a ten round bout next Friday at the Liberty Club Thermopolis. Local residents plan to attend en masse to witness the match.

Presbyterian Ladies Aid Plans Bazaar and Banquet

The Presbyterian Ladies Aid met with Mrs F M Hime to organize a bazaar and supper to be held tomorrow at the First National Bank building former Golden Rule store. Committees were named for dinner bazaar advertising and a white elephant sale with a handmade quilt to be sold at reasonable prices.

Senorita Isobel to Read Past and Future in Denver

The Senorita from Denver will arrive by 6 30 due to Thermopolis engagements. Dinner begins at 6 50 with a three course turkey supper at 76 cents per plate. Public invited. Mrs Hime and Mrs Henry Armeling served refreshments after the meeting.

Turkey Dinner Tomorrow at Golden Rule Building Bazaar

A turkey dinner and bazaar are set for tomorrow afternoon and evening in the old Golden Rule building south of the First National Bank. Dinner will be served from 5 30 until finished, costing 75 cents, with proceeds aiding a worthy cause and all are invited.

Narrow escape in Elk Basin gas line incident prompts inquiry

C M Gingrich of the Ohio Oil Co narrowly escaped injury last Friday evening when a gas line gate failed in Elk Basin, releasing gas under 900 pounds pressure and forcing his evacuation from a pit. He was hospitalised briefly and returned home, with safety concerns to be addressed in future tie-ins.

The Ladies Aid kitchen shower scheduled for this month has been postponed until after the new year. A definite date will be announced next week. All interested are asked to respond with suggestions to the committee. It is hoped full equipment for banquet facilities will be secured after the shower.

The long quarrel between England and Ireland ends as a peace treaty is argued, giving Ireland a free state with constitutional status akin to Canada and Australia. Once approved by Parliament and the Ulster government it will take full effect.

Road Contracts Let This Week Between Basin and Burlington

County commissioners awarded contracts for the Basin to Burlington road project with the state highway department handling grading. Chapman and Snowden bid $410 for bridges, Joe Wheeler led team work in district 2 at $50, with others supporting. Miller and Boyd won districts 1 3 and 4 with bids of 684 991.80 and 725 respectively. Local road committee chair H L Wise coordinated section work. Grading will wait on culverts and bridges, aiming for summer completion and a Yellowstone highway level road. The board also agreed to cooperate with the farm bureau on pest control up to 2000 dollars.

Wyoming Day Program at Rex Theatre Tonight

A cooperative program commemorating Wyoming Day will be shown at the Rex Theatre this evening. It features a Frank Mayo picture and acts including Wyoming State Song, T. Earl Keefer solos, a chorus, and a reading Sacajawea by Miss Gertrude Skovgard. Additional numbers include Little Grey Home in the West, a mixed quartet My Native Land with Mrs. W. Mortimer and others.

Good Record on New Road Progress

John Snyder of the state highway commission tested the new road from his Lowell home to Basin in one hour six minutes. The trip is about one third the time of the old Ribbon Canyon route, thanks to proper grading and good packing after recent moisture.
