Col May and Mr Osborn of the Chamber of Commerce toured town gardens to assess display material for the state and county fairs. They found ample high quality produce likely to outshine rivals and urged exhibitors to prepare special displays for the fair officials.
William Tilforth leaves Basin for Everett Washington to help build ships for Uncle Sam. Friends in Basin wish him success in his new calling.
Electric lights were installed on the new flagpole in front of the courthouse on Wednesday. The secretary noted Garden Club members will sell truck to tourists at the campsite and a $25 band fund was assigned to H H Hime with flexible fundraising options. Dr. Smith proposed using club rooms for the Odd Fellows Grand Lodge in October and to gather mill and food administration facts to counter false reports. The chamber backs $250 for fair entertainment as county support wanes, with Martin and Blackford named for sign and fund tasks.
The Chamber of Commerce reports rising attendance after a Monday meeting led by President Martin. Dr. Mark H. Smith proposes a committee to pursue a clock for the courthouse while Schenk notes light fixtures for the flag pole have arrived and will be installed within days.

A Burlington freight conductor discovered a large bomb near the Antelope creek bridge south of town. The device contained black powder dynamite and pulverized dynamite with a intact cap and fuse, and did not explode. Sheriff Wickwire and experts are investigating a possible deliberate attempt to blow up the bridge.
Basin plans a Red Cross carnival alongside the county fair with ticketed 10 cent attractions on Main Street from the bank to the drug store corner. A masque night Thursday invites all ages to spend for the “greatest Mother of them all” the American Red Dogs.
The Big Horn county republican central committee will meet tomorrow at 2 PM in the Masonic hall in Greybull. All republican candidates and supporters are invited to attend to discuss a victory at the polls this fall.
Mr and Mrs Guy Brill returned to their home after visiting her parents in Cheyenne for a month. They report an enjoyable trip and look forward to resuming usual activities.
Scott Milla traveled to Missoula Montana on Monday to meet with capitalists about continuing drilling operations near Basin.
Jack Hunt, a cook at an alleged rooming house, was arrested yesterday by Sheriff Wickwire and is being held on a slacker charge.
The canvassing board reviewed results from the county primary election for non partisan judicial and county superintendent seats. Potter led the county with 952 votes and Jessie Wardlaw won Manderson precinct. key races included Mondell 812 for congress and Wickwire 374 for sheriff with a 71 plurality.
Greybull residents with their band visited Basin to promote next Monday’s Labor Day celebration. A northbound escort formed a parade to the court house, where Mayor C. J. Williams spoke and invited Basin residents to Greybull. The two bands performed at Rex theatre and a free dance followed. Basin and Greybull bands impressed locals with new uniforms and strong playing. Basin will return the visit Monday to boost Greybull’s event, while many Greybull folks plan to attend Basin’s Labor Day celebration next Thursday.

A Chamber of Commerce committee sets a flag raising program for next Tuesday at 11 am on the fairgrounds. Music by the band includes "Old Glory" read by Mrs W B Hartigan and songs by the Mized quartet. The Star Spangled Banner will accompany the flag raising with "America" sung by the audience.
