Preparations are underway for the Big Horn County Fair with the largest exhibit yet planned. Districts visited, grounds prepared, and new fair association efforts aim to attract visitors and showcase farmers crops fruit livestock and industry. The state fair's high standards push local efforts while nearby counties contest Big Horn's lead.
Rumor then firm claim that Basin players impress audiences in neighboring towns. Authority says performances are exceptionally worthy, rivaling professional companies that have visited Linsin. Cast members' individual work cited as key factor alongside group effort.
Dr W G Dodge of Tensleep arrived with the big freight truck used between Tensleep and the town. He reports Jake Goodrich recently bought the truck from Brokaw and McCarty and will handle freight to Tensleep. Dodge will serve as conductor and engineer, guiding the truck over the hills after repairs in town.
A town concert is arranged with a promenade and rewards for music loving families and kids. Frank Smith prepares a maple floor for a carnival reception and dance as neighbors plan to attend. Charlie Bryan the champion thresh er of St Joy plans to start his steam threshing outfit this week for a busy season. J B Lemke receives a milk clarifier to improve dairy quality and plans further upgrades. J R Broppwell ships 500 dozen Sunriot sweet corn to Theramopolis and other points as his truck garden prospers.
August Anderson attended a Los Angeles display of California form products hosted by the chamber of commerce. He also took in the free features with waving pictures presented at the event.
The State Board of Equalization announces Wyoming’s total taxable property at 210,485,263.83 dollars, up 6,745,126.42 from last year. The state tax levy rises 1.15 mills to 2.35 mills, bringing in about 800,000 as the governor’s notice shows.
Last Saturday in Basin Jus tices court Mi ron Telmean charged W J Moss W J Howe C T Moore and Wm Wheelock with hindering him from peaceable possession of his Garvin basin homestead. Tolman sons filed on the land after sheepmen moved in, claiming force used against them. Attorneys were Blyen and others to be heard on pleas and decisions.
Thursday evening a large group gathered at Mr and Mrs D J Carrs home for games and conversation. Saties served a buffet style meal from baskets, guests helped themselves for amusement. The event marked a farewell as the Darrs head to the Pacific coast to attend the Governing Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows and visit fairs. A Progress Association special meeting is planned for Monday night to decide on fireworks during the fair, with a call for a large attendance.
Dr Elmer Gould deputy state veterinarian plans to travel to Cheyenne for the initial board meeting. He will be away several days as the new panel begins its work.
A baby girl blessed the Hendricks home near St Jon on Wednesday. The infant’s mother, H. D. Hendricks’s wife, and the child are reported to be well.
Johnny Thomps on, a Bilings based horse buyer for the French government, has been in the Hy attvile Tensleep region for days purchasing horses of high quality. He notes English buyers are inactive for now, French demand wanes from earlier peaks, and he plans to return soon to buy more. George Allen joined Thompson from Cody country. A new Orwell well in Grass Creek widens oil-deposit area east of expected limits. A baby girl was born Aug 19 to Mrs Paul Lewis Zimmerman of Mamerson. both mother and child well. A baby boy arrived Friday night to Mrs Earl Sprague of Otte. all well. A. F. Eltison, Burling ton farmer and schoolteacher, was in town yesterday. On the race track, Warren Jones will run two racing mares in a circuit including Port Collins, Loveland, Longmont, Pueblo, Casper, Douglas and Denver, with J T Biwest as driver. Dird Grattan, a top racer, has a strong track record from WO years ago. Pau L, the COM, remains well known in the scene.

The rig moved to the A. S. Pease ranch nearby and gas was struck at roughly 800 feet. It is unclear if further development will occur.
A social gathering at the parsonage hosted by Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Creath honored Miss Lois Coons with pink and white sweet pea decorations. Attendees included Lois Coons Kathleen ONeil Lucille Coons Amy Gould Esther Rec Lillian Anderson and several others. After games a lunch was served. Earlier Deputy U S Marshal Warramount arrested W J Moss W L Howe C T Moore and Wm Wheelock in the Garvin basin on obstructing the public domain charges connected to cattle range disputes with Frank Tolman. The four posted bonds for the upcoming federal court term in Cheyenne.
The Hyattville stockmen move to avert winter losses from wolves. Two hounds will be kept at the Mercer ranch and two at Abe Gotwals’ place. The report notes large numbers of wolves prompting the plan. In other items, Mr and Mrs D E Lewis hosted a bridge party Friday night with a generous spread. Gov Kendrick appoints Basin notaries: M B Rhodes, Mrs Masie V Rhodes, W S Colling, Gil more Hartigan.
Berlin reports Chancellor von Bethmann Hollweg says Germany will give full satisfaction to the United States if a German submarine commander exceeded his instructions in sinking the steamer Arabic. He notes no definite statement can be made until all circumstances are clarified, including whether a mine or torpedo was responsible and the submarine’s actions.
J C Going and Mr and Mrs Geo Chappel of Minder Nebraska visited several days and Mrs Chappel bought land south of Five Mile by the Big Horn canal. J M Grant plans a 100 ton silo for winter use as county agriculturist A H Tedman supports the project, with other farmers eyeing similar steps. Registered Poland China hogs shipped by W H May & Sons mark Basin’s first sale of this kind, boosting a growing hog business with buyers nationwide.
Basin welcomes teachers and instructors from Big Horn and Washy kie counties for a two day session. A large attendance is expected with notable educators joining the program. The event combines institute work with numerous features to please attendees.
