National Supply Co Opens Basin Oil District Facility

The National Supply Co. will locate a full service oil field supplies operation in Basin adjoining the Mamm Hotel area. Local manager Carleton Clymer arrived from Casper to organize, with shelling and office setup underway. The move is seen as a major boost for Basin and surrounding oil territory, including a future warehouse near the railroad for engines and heavy materials. The company has secured a Mead property lease, and staff will reside in Basin. The development marks a key economic milestone for the town and region.

Judge and the Gin delights Basin audiences in local play

Frank Smith produced and Victor Gillard directed The Judge and the Gin a comedy performed Friday evening to a full Basin audience. Standouts Miss May Roberts as Mrs Rumpus and Victor Girard as Mr Rumpus impressed with strong acting and makeup while Irwin Smith Miss Lillian Anderson and Miss Charlotte Smith supported in key roles. The cast drew praise for lively pace and overall quality beyond typical road productions.

Park Visit Sparks Quick Morning Outing

Mr and Mrs G W Back Mrs Wilson and Mrs Lou Zane with Mrs Brewer returned yesterday from a trip through the Park. They made very quick travels and enjoyed the out fog was very light and the day pleasant.

Woman's Club Open Meeting Sets Year Plans

The first meeting of the new season will be held next Wednesday September 8 with all members urged to attend. The program committee will present the year’s work for approval before printing. County Levies Set In Special Session For 1915 Assessments

County commissioners, in a special session, set levies for 1915 totaling 13.75 cents state and county per dollar of valuation on a valuation of 7,209,937.03. Major items include state census, county agent, county fair, widow's pension, and bridges Byron and Anderson Ford, raising about 15,000 in expenses with a net additional tax of roughly one cent per $100.

Government restrains oil firms in Grass Creek field

Little One Burned In Cowley House Fire Tragedy

A Cowley family suffered a deadly blaze last Tuesday when a house and its contents burned. A two year old daughter perished, and the mother is in serious condition after leaving the child briefly with a neighbor. The father was away and did not reach home until Wednesday evening. The fire also claimed the death of another local child, a Snow family teacher, with funerals held yesterday. News notes also report local promotions, visits, and farm show plans including a Dry Farm congress exhibit for Denver with vast premiums and expected global attendance.

County commissioners clash over tax levy and fair funding

In a special session the county planned state and county levies with a minor cent rise per hundred dollars. Debates centered on funding the county fair, library and agricultural agent. T. W. Statt and M. D. Harris supported the levy. Ron Avent opposed. Spratt and Harris endorsed 1500 dollars for the fair. Delayed funds from delinquent taxes may cover some costs. Victory for American diplomacy cheers in Washington

Washington officials welcomed Count von Bernstorff's written note stating Germany would sink liners only with warning. The German ambassador cited Berlin instructions and Oral assurances given last week. Secretary Lansing called the move a recognition of a fundamental principle and conveyed the letter to the White House in a cheerful briefing.
