Travelers Injured in Basin Car Accident

While traveling from Mee Teetse to Basin in a Ford the incident left C. B. Farnham a Fish Rubber Co. representative and W. L. Shrader with serious injuries. Near the Burlington school house the vehicle overturned causing a dislocated knee cap and wrist for Farnham and body and head injuries for Shrader. They were taken to Basin for medical care.

NEW FAMILY ARRIVES IN BASIN FORMER MONTANA MAN JOINS LOCAL FIRM

R. R. Ferris and his wife and son arrived from Lewistown Montana at the start of the week and will reside in Basin. Ferris has taken an interest in the Western Tithe and Loan Co and is noted as an expert abstractor. A cordial welcome is extended. Francis Webster and Miss Irma Dobbs of Greybull were wed by Rev. R. M. Jones at the M E parsonage on Monday. They plan to live in Greybull where Webster works as a cement contractor.

Fred Frisby was called to a library this week after a wash basin overflowed. He found the pipes clogged with fresh water snails, a puzzling source unknown to staff. Local authorities investigate how the snails entered the plumbing system.

The annual Wyoming Stockgrowers Association gathering convened at Basin's court house with 200 plus delegates. Welcome events included a special southbound train arrival, Chamber of Commerce registration, a night dance and concert at the Basin bandstand, and reports from Miss Alice Smith and the association treasurer.

Stockgrowers Program Weekend Meetings and Tours

A Wyoming stockgrowers event runs Friday April eleventh at nine to four with multiple speakers including Gov. Robert D. Carey and Sen. John B. Kendrick. Sessions cover Good Roads, National Legislation, stock cooperation, and federal meat legislation. An automobile tour, general discussion and a Saturday schedule include committee reports, officer elections, and a reception for visiting ladies with a theatre party.

Convention Visitors Attend Stockmen Gathering

Denver commission men plus Daniel s Fisher and the May Co representatives joined stockmen at Basin. Attendees include W J Booth and son James, Dave and Bert Allen, Ben Waln, Claud Waln, Al Kershner, Sam Smith, Myron Austin, John Weintz, A S Mercer, B F Davis, Jim Rogers, Jake Frison and Bear McClellan. A special train leaves Basin Saturday for Miles City to meet the Montana stockgrowers association. Local ladies host a musicale at the library, a luncheon follows, then a library event and a picture show in the evening.

State Warden vows crack down on unlicensed fishing

State Game Warden Judkins of Lander warns he will prosecute to the full extent anyone fishing in Wyoming streams without a license. A prominent Cooper man was caught last Saturday and fined $50 for the offense.

Two youths flee industrial school steal guns in Worland

John Kemonta and Charles Morris under seventeen escape Colter Industrial School on Tuesday night. They rob Washakie Trading Co store taking two guns and 600 rounds, ride a northbound freight, and a cotton car catches fire near Greybull. Deputies chase, both boys captured north of town after gunfire. one swam the river before surrendering. Authorities place them in Superintendent William Moncur’s custody.

Housewarming at Chas Hime’s South Bench Farm

Last Saturday evening Chas Hime and his wife hosted a housewarming at the new South bench residence. About thirty neighbors attended, touring the home noted for modern conveniences and an electric light system, followed by games and refreshments.

Allen Daugherty Couple Married by Rev R M Jones

Yesterday afternoon Karl Allen and Miss Cecil Daugherty were united in marriage by Rev R M Jones in the presence of close relatives. The bride is daughter of Paris and Mrs Daugherty of Canyon Creek, the groom son of John and Mrs Allen of Cloverly. They are well liked in the region and receive best wishes from many friends.

Arrest of Freeman Gray on Washakie county robbery warrant

Freeman Gray was taken into custody by the sheriff and is held on a Washakie county robbery warrant. He was found near the Olney ranch at Shell, going through Olney property, and matches the county description. A Washakie officer will arrive to transfer him.

Casing Arrival Reopens Burlington Area Drilling

Drilling at a Burlington area well was paused awaiting 16 percent casing. The casing arrived yesterday and will be hauled to the site and drilling resumed. The well depth is around four hundred feet and each casing joint weighs about 1500 pounds.
