Stockmen Banquet And Dance Arranged For Wyoming Meet

Local preparations for the Wyoming Stock growers meeting set a schedule from April 10 to 13. Mayor Sullivan greets attendees. Governor Carey and other leaders headline talks on good roads livestock legislation and rail cooperation. A stockmen’s banquet, smoker and automobile tour fill the program, with out-of-state visitors participating.

County Farm Bureau organized across Big Horn County

The county wide farm bureau program completed on Monday with most communities forming chapters. Officers elected include M. D. Harris for labor and silos, C. KK Mansfield for fair, L Hdoker for seeds, and others handling foods poultry clothing club work. Community chairmen were chosen for Lovell Deaver Cowley Byron Hablem Manderson Kane and more.

Basin county meeting elects officers and adopts constitution

The county wide meeting held at Basin on March 31 elected one year terms for President R. Spencer Basin Vice President M D Harris Lovell Secretary George Hoffman Basin Treasurer Grace Mott Manderson Executive Committee P V Simonton Manderson Elaine Kinder Shell L P Weld Greybull A constitution and by laws were adopted.

Wyoming Auto Investment Calls For Radical Road Improvement

It is estimated that Wyoming will have 25 000 automobiles in 1920. At least 1 000 dollars per vehicle brings the investment to 25 million. Depreciation from bad roads, at 10 per cent, implies a loss of 2.5 million annually to automobile owners. Over ten years the outlay would be lost, demanding urgent road improvements.

Dinner hosts honor J. H. Montgomery at Orchard bench

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Rogers of Orchard bench entertained at dinner last Sunday in honor of J. H. Montgomery. Also present were Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hime, Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Pearson of Basin, and Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Stray of Manderson.

Knights of Pythias Lodge to Reorganize in Basin

A Basin lodge of the Knights of Pythias will be reorganized with installation ceremonies on Saturday evening April 12. Grand Chancellor E. B. Cragle will oversee the event and Thermopolis lodge’s degree team will exemplify the work. Former Husin members are urged to regain good standing and interested parties are invited to join the charter membership.

Basin Man Appointed to State Immigration Board

Governor Carey named D. L. Carr of Basin to the state board of immigration. The board controls immigration appropriations and the commissioner appointment. The first meeting will be in Cheyenne early this month to select the commissioner and begin a campaign for settlers. Carr serves a three year term.

Buffalo road project funds announced for forest reserve

The acting forester announced funds totaling 210000 available for the Buffalo loop road through the forest reserve and that forty miles of the road will be completed this summer.

Bond issue for good roads set to raise 2.8 million

The April 22 bond election seeks 2.8 million dollars with interest capped at five percent and federal matching funds. Sixty percent of proceeds pay labor, with farmers and ranchers offered road work at good wages. Big Horn county gets 161,868 based on valuation.

Young Otto Neighborhood Worker Shoots Himself

Clair You, a young man employed in the Otto neighborhood, accidentally shot himself with a revolver last Sunday. He was brought to Basin hospital and is reported out of danger by Dr. H. M. T. Harris. It is said he will not carry a gun at work in the future.

Active campaign for highway bonds urged by Sheridan delegates

Sheridan delegates report an enthusiastic meeting with W E B Chaplin as a key speaker urging an active campaign to pass the bond election. Counties will form organizations to ensure a large majority. Government funding may be a fifty fifty match with the state on all roads, with bond proceeds allotted by county valuations.
