Cope Arrested for Sitting on Santa Fe Lawn

N A Cope, after a Bakersfield to Barstow run, sat on the Santa Fe lawn to remove a stone from his shoe. Guard Wynkoop ordered him off and threatened arrest as Cope questioned him. Cope, who has eight years with the Santa Fe and a Bakersfield family, denies breaking the keep off the grass rule. A separate note mentions a rail road guard transfer and a US deputy marshal removal by White & Platt.

Fuhr Relieved as Acting Superintendent on Arizona Division

Fuhr Fluhr trainmaster for Valley division Fresno has been appointed acting superintendent of the Arizona division during Superintendent Christie’s vacation. Christie’s Needles post during the 1919 shopmen strike was trying, as Fluhr’s ascent follows 20 years in railroad work including chief clerk to the master mechanic and prior service as superintendent. The duration of Fluhr’s acting role depends on Christie’s vacation length.

Mrs Marion Brooks left Thursday for Riverside to visit relatives. Mrs J B Ordway and children were visitors in Fenner Thursday. A big masquerade is planned in Pinto heights on Sept 23. Three brothers, all first class mechanics, opened a repair shop in Goffs. Mrs C B Barnett of Danby and her new baby girl arrived home from Los Angeles. Ned Farmer of Lanfair visited Goffs this week. Cr Springer, telegraph operator, has been in Los Angeles recently.
