Former California governor Henry Tifft Gage dies at his home in Los Angeles on August 28 after a long illness. He was 74, born in Geneva New York in 1852, served as governor from 1899 to 1903, and later was U S minister to Portugal until the 1910 revolution. Also notes frictions at Roseville church and plans for a Santa Clara observatory with a Knights of Columbus drive, plus assorted local notices and ads.
