National Park to Park Tour Guests Arrive in Barstow

Barstow to host about twenty guests from the National Park to Park highway tour on Saturday night. The group, touring 4500 miles, will travel from Los Angeles to Victorville then Barstow where they will be welcomed and spend the night. Hemus Family Reunion Gathers Members From Across Regions

The Hemus families hold a reunion this week at Ben Hemus's home. Sally Hemus is present with family from nearby. Harry Hemus and his wife arrive with two boys from Brea. Ben Hemus Jr and family came from Phoenix. J E Curtis with son Clyde and wife join the event. It is the first gathering in ten years and all enjoy the reunion.

Dr Grimes returns from a short visit and joins local boosters to escort the Park to Park event in Victorville. Alice Brady starred at Victory theater in The Hollow of Her Hand with strong supporting cast. Harland's Desert Display Shows Growing Desert Agriculture

A sample garden truck from R. A. Harland ranch three miles east of Barstow was left at the Printer office last Friday. It featured Jerusalem artichokes peanuts Mexican beans sweet potatoes beefsteak tomatoes squash and white Bermuda onions. Tourists and homeseekers admired the display and noted that desert lands can produce fine fruit and vegetables when watered, though crops remain largely experimental.

Austher Record Breaking Travel to California

Traffic to California is at record levels with two California Limited sections from the East to Chicago Barstow and Los Angeles. Travel last winter shattered records with more transcontinental passengers than 1915 during world fairs. Barstow reports about 1000 daily autos with four riders per car and garages full, while 160 cars pass the National Old Trail road each day. The boom shows no immediate state takeover of the highway and counties bear the upkeep costs.
