Barstow Man Marries Portland Bride in Oregon Wedding

George Henderson of Barstow wed Miss Eda Crawford of Portland in a Wednesday ceremony at First Presbyterian Church Portland. Sunday Show At Santa Paula Happily Kept, Draws Big Crowd

Church Federation of Santa Paula planned a four day event and sought to skip Sunday to avoid Sabbath desecration. After three days of debate the Sunday exhibition stayed, becoming the biggest and most profitable day of the event. Tom Mix and Bebe Daniels were advertised and attended, drawing crowds despite casual attire by Daniels.

Groundwater in Mohave River Basin Special Report

The Mohave River in San Bernardino County proves a desert stream with surface flow limited to floods yet with groundwater near the surface in many areas. The USGS has prepared a short report by geologist David G. Thompson on groundwater conditions along Mohave River to aid inquiries about proposed headwater diversions. Manuscript copies are available for consultation at Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Bernardino offices, with no distribution copies.

Riparian owners push water rights bid in Mojave district

Mojave River Riparian Owners Association held its monthly meeting at B U H S and voted to send notices to every land owner to join and pay 10 cents per acre. A protest was filed with the State water commission against Pasadena’s Mojave River waters. a hearing is set for Nov 1. Engineer Foster mapped the district. each parcel owner will have name and acreage on the map. If an irrigation district forms, the map may serve that purpose. Dues are 10 cents per acre, with no further assessments. send payments to Lloyd Tiernan Barstow or Dix Van Dyke Daggett.

Senator Philander C. Knox of Pennsylvania and Taft administration secretary of state died suddenly at 6 30 p m at his Washington home after a paralytic attack as he descended the stairs to dinner He was 68 years old and died within minutes without regaining consciousness.
