A Barstow Woman's Club Benefit party was held Tuesday evening in the new Boy Scout building with Camp Fire Girls singing and Monte Carlo Whist entertaining. Last Saturday J. H. Stone and his cousin Mr. Lay labored in their mine five miles northeast of town when a side wall caved in. Stone was buried to his neck while Lay freed him after an hour of effort. Stone was brought to town and later sent to San Bernardino for examination. His pelvic fracture was initially feared but later ruled out. Stone’s daughter drove to the mine to calm fears.

Much Development on Campbell Property
Under the supervision of Joe Mc Gallard a fifty ton mill will be erected on the Gold Belt mining property recently sold by R. M. Campbell and associate. The property lies 15 miles southeast of Stoddard Well. Considerable development has been done in recent months and enough ore is blocked out for the new purchasers to operate the mill. Fourteen men are employed on three shifts. New bunk houses have been built and two wells will supply water to run the mill.

A San Bernardino Sun correspondent from Victorville argues a new Star Route mail line should originate in Victorville rather than San Bernardino. Miller is named for four men and a post office to be located at Miller’s station nine miles southwest of Victorville on the National Old Trails. The route would extend east 40 miles to Hesperia and west to Phelan at Baldy Mesa, with delivery daily except Sundays. The letter urges serving Miller and Hesperia territories from Victorville to improve efficiency and avoid routing through the county seat.

Orange Show Announces Duck Dinner At San Bernardino
From the National Orange Show offices in San Bernardino 200 acceptances have been received for the annual Orange Show duck dinner on December 4. General Manager BR H Mack expects 800 attendees as the campaign begins for the next show in February in San Bernardino.
